all i gotta say is, this movie will be HARD to top. I just dont see how they can make the next one better than this...Dark Knight was not treated like a super hero movie at all... they took it seriosuly, which I really liked. The opening scene was like something right out of 'Heat'.

So Oscar, you were right - I broke down and went this afternoon. :p

This was about as good as a super hero movie can get, IMO. All I could think to myself the whole time was "Oh my god, this is totally the Empire Strikes Back." The mood of the film was perfect, and only spoiled by Gyllenhal (and even then it was only a bit - she was just really, really terrible, and I say that knowing the alternative was Katie Holmes), Ledger played the Joker perfectly - and Eckhart did a surprising job with Harvey Dent/Two Face, and I say surprising only because much like I think of inconspicuous, I just imagine Harvey Dent as a black guy.

Potential spoilers to follow:

The best part of this movie is that at the end of it, everything has gone straight to hell. I didn't think it was a happy ending at all, just a very, very satisfying one.

This will be hard to top - the trio of Bale, Ledger, and Eckhart worked incredibly well together, and my only real lament is that they closed the door on Dent.

If Ledger wasn't dead, I'd honestly take both him and Eckhart back as the villains in the third movie.

A+. Rare movie that has actually lived up to, and even exceeded, the hype.

RJT your post summed it up perfectly I was worried that the film wouldn't live up to the hype well i don't have to worry any longer as it exceeded the hype was a great movie. Amazing score by Hans Zimmer. Amazing direction, cinematography and overall mood of the movie.

No kidding!

the pencil trick scene was up there, but i have to say joker's hospital, escape from jail, and attempt to take down harvey dent scenes are just as good too. so hard to rank.

They tried to do too much in this movie, that's why it felt so long. I wish they would've focused more on the character development/plot of the Joker and how it's affecting Bruce Wayne/Batman instead of forcing Two-Face into the last 30-40 minutes of the movie (Could've held him off until the next part). Overall it's still a quality summer flick. A lot of great moments that made me say "whoa" but overall I'm not satisfied. Something just felt "off" with this one.

Ps. Ledger did an incredible job as the Joker though, and I only wish the script would've given him more. Every time he wasn't on screen the movie was almost "meh." The only thing that really held this character back was the PG13 rating, and too much attention on Two-Face. The pencil scene, and when he first describes his dad and how he got those scars were amazing.

The movie gets a B+ from me.

I'm thinking that guy becomes the RIddler. The accountant guy who wanted 10 million a year, right?
