one of the best out there, especially now after their card design change and a paypass addition

not a bad deal...but I could never be found dead at a CT gas pump. Esso or Shell for me, because of a) convenience of location near office and home b) Esso Extra points which get converted to RBC Rewards for travel points with my Avion card c) Shell's connection to FAY-RA-REE. ;)

how many billion points to get a free pen?

One way people can get away from higher prices is with a canadian tire credit card. If you spend $1000 a month on the card you get 8 cents per litre off when you pay at the pump at canadian tire. Saves me $4-$5 per fill up on a 50 L tank!

hmmmm so let's do the math on value for dollar spent.

if you spend $1,000 a month, that's $12,000 p.a. and that equals 12,000 points or whatever.

Those points get you $0.08 per litre. If you fill up 4 times a month on a 50 L car, that's $16 per month or $192 per year (I wonder if there's a cap?)

So your point:dollar reward ratio is approx. 62.5.

That's not bad. The lower the number the better (i.e. it should take less points to get a reward dollar). I get a 40 ratio on air travel in Canada/U.S. and 50 for Europe/Asia. ;)

ps. how many times do I have to tell you, malek, your banking with the wrong bank! ;) lol

so, like, a billion points would get me about 100 million pens ;)

i work at rbc visa and i still think that canadian tire mc is far more superior in terms of rewards

some benefits:

-no annual fee (which is a big one)
-paypass
-nice design
-ct money on the card which you can use at any ct location - i get oil changes practically done for free every 5-6000 km
-at the pump you get more ct money
-use that money to buy gas or other

anyways for a free card its a good one

Can someone tell me why in canada there is so much intra-day variation in gas prices?
Gas prices generally change here in the U.S. every few days or sometimes longer.

I still see a lot of hunk a SUVS and trucks being driven by people who are too stubborn to give them up.
But if you really want to save on gas, the biggest thing you can do is live near your work. People don't do that here, and that is not changing. Cuyahoga County, which has the most employers by far, is losing population very quickly. People are choosing to live a 30-60 miles away from Cleveland and commuting. Those are the same people who think they are entitled to cheap gas. Part of the reason is poor public policy on a local and state level, but a lot of it is due to the American preference for privacy.

How much did that cost you? Sounds like a good idea for when I move downtown. I love the idea of free parking.

with a nice annual fee of $120 a year

if you're willing to pay a fee of 120 for a card the best card for that right now is rbc visa platinum avion

when you are approved for it you get 15000 bonus points just for signing up which is 125 bucks back + load of other benefits + its the first card to have a chip system in canada which is an increased protection against fraud/card copying
