This week in Iraq

Despite the propaganda coming out of the White House, there is no rosy picture in Iraq. A country with a suicide bomber every week or so is not a normalizing country, never will be. Bush's war is a failure. The surge is a failure. The strategic objectives are failures. The neoconservative agenda is a failure. They deserve nothing more than a war crimes trial at the Hague.

That is nothing compared to the 700,000+ Iraqi's killed by the Invasion so far.
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/10/11/iraq.deaths/
There figures do not include wounded and those with adverse health effects, malnutrition and other ailments.
The 4000+ US soilders killed is a drop in the bucket compared to Iraqi Citizens killed, and it is easy to imagine this number surmounting 1 MILLION people (the population of a fair sized city) being whiped out by the US invasion if not greater by the Civil war that will continue with or without the US presence.
While not quite the 5 Million Jews killed during the holocaust.. even 1/10th the holocaust should be seen as a grave injustice against humanity. |
I think that 700,000 number is highly inflated. Check out...

I was just going to post that link, seems like it's accounting all direct and indirect people that died or may have died as a consequence of war. Anyway, currently death toll is about 90 000, which is not that small a number either. I'm sure it feels great for the Iraqis to be "liberated". |
