this is a good idea imo
not sure how i would have worked it in during college, but it will help improve the quality of life for many people and the quality of american society |

Obviously this is the general idea, and I agree it's a pretty good idea. But, how do you think it will be met by the general populace? Somebody mentioned something earlier about this community service having some sort of benefit for the individual? (I mean, the server, not the recipient of service). |

Only the rich or lazy wouldn't give it a shot. But, when leaving Uni in a highly competitive job environment, it wouldn't be exactly ty looking on your resume, right? Evein something you can call experience? |

| The issue here is that the website initially said required in two different places for both the high school and the college students. It mentioned that 50 hours of community service would be required from high school students and 100 hours would be required from college students. There was no mention of tuition assistance. Now it mentions calling on the students for service and giving the college students money in return for their service. I've watched the wording change three times. Surely someone didn't make that huge of an error earlier. |

In any case, now he's sort of paying college students to do community service thus nullifying part of the point in my opinion.
All in all it seems like a bull idea as it should be left up to personal decision, not government intervention. |

Why is that an issue? Why is it not believable that whoever is in charge of writing for their site misunderstood or neglected to mention additional details? We are talking about a government position here. :p |

I don't know how high-school systems are in America, however I assume the level of competition between the students are pretty high, who is getting to go to the good university and who's not. So according to you, instead of studying and trying to score good points for that fancy university, the ..."kids" should be dragged in doing some meaningless work which somehow is the exact reason one studies, so he will have the possibility to choose. |
