The thing is, people make a big deal about the thickness, but it is not as big as people make it out to be. Most peoples phones are quite close to being the same thickness as that thing is. The difference is the rest of the dimensions that people just like, ehh it is too thick. |
i have a Razr 2....the Touch Pro is about the same size in length and width, but it literally is 2X the height. as i keep my phone in my back pocket its too big for that. |

Compared to that phone, yes. I had that as my work phone at my old company. It is exactly 2x the width. But remember, most people don't have a phone that thin. Quite simply, most people have phones that are almost the same dimensions. |

Its the "DEV team" that released the unlock for the 3G for all the updates.
They released Qwkpwn, Winpwn etc etc...
The unlock is an actual flash/baseband unlock, its not a weak sim hack or BS like that. They are just using us as test dummies before they release it in final after the 2.2 release. |

its official now.
Storm release date is Nov 21st. price is $199 after a $50 rebate. and they should have plenty in stock... |

I just had to make sure. :) And WinPwn was being done by 1 guy not the dev team.

I gave my opinion on it after using it in a different thread. I will find it and paste it here.
edit// Here it is

I was using one a bit the other night. A friend develops for the platform. I like the interface although it is a little choppy. The touchscreen is plenty sensitive. The keyboard is mediocre at best. The keys are too small. The trackball works very well. The internet, aside from the speed of edge, works very well. They did well with the browser. And funnily enough, it was being compared against my HTC Hermes (AT&T 8525), vs my buddy who has an iPhone 3G, and the G1. Safari kept crashing while going to a website my buddy and I could go to fine.
Overall impression: It has some work to be done, but very solid and good pda phone out of the gate from scratch. Obviously it won't be good for corporate users yet, but give it time. |

Is this from the iPhone dev team or some other guys? I am very much so against the background process or sim card bs to deal with the lock. They should just flash it with a european firmware, modify the baseband for the unlock, and be done with it.
Or just take the easy way out and say YOU to the gay ass old tech iPhone and get a Touch Pro!!!!
For those that are unaware, the touch pro is below. :D

The touch Pro is the bad boy of all phones - true iphone killer. This has waaaaay more functionality, it's faster, has a flash on the camera, the best built in GPS of any phone currently available, can take the largest micro SD cards (12 gig released soon) and does HSUPA, which means as soon as it's rolled out over here, it will make the iphone 3g users buy a new iphone (again).
Also, the width is 18 mm - the iphone 3g is 12.5mm - less than 6mm difference!
Comparing the razor2 to any PDA phone is a bad comparison. It's like comparing a calculator to a PC - they just don't do the same things.
Scissorhand - The wing was an absolute joke, but you could see that a mile off - it was just an early generation HTC device repackaged. The OS was so basic compared to any other current HTC device.
The biggest advantage of HTC devices is the enthusiast development that goes on - XDA developers are constantly pushing the boundaries and nearly all the software is free or donation based. for instance, I was watching full (not mobile) youtube (and other flash content sites) on my HTC phone over a year ago and software from ROM upgrades to customization programs goes in to the hundreds so you can make the phone completely suited to you.
Also being locked to AT&T? yes their reception is probably the best in the states but their cheapest plan with data works out to be about $80 a month, and the same plan I have with Tmobile ($40 a month) would cost me over $100 on AT&T. They are subsidizing the iphone by jacking up the line costs.
the hacking of the iphone - whatever they manage to do, all apple has to do is keep bringing out firmware updates to screw the hackers again. Apple are all over this and they know the moment it's been hacked is the time to bring out firmware.
Just buy a phone with more features that is happy to be hacked (the Touch pro ;) ) |

i wasn't at all trying to say the Razr2 is a competitor for a PDA phone. just saying its what i'm used to and the Touch Pro is 2X as thick...which is a negative for me. the BB Storm is thinner...so that's a plus for me. if they had the Storm for Sprint i'd get it in a second. |
