Yeah, Venus blew it big time today, she was serving for the match and managed to lose 4-5 games in a row. To be fair to Navarro though, she was the better player over the final two sets. Serena aside, the Americans haven't really got any potential Grand Slam winners left in the draw, men included imo, but you never know.
Murray didn't play particularly well but still blew his opponent off the court. Passages of good play, but I'd rather see him peak later in the tournament when it matters.

i think girls who are genuinely really into sports are sexy. i wish i could get into them. i love going to hockey games for the experience and to watch it live, but i can't sit there and throw player stats around or get into major sports discussions.

i've been a safin fan since he won the us open in 2000 and was happy with his performance at the australian in 2005. this isn't new but part of that has to do with his nature talent, his personality on the court and of course like many other women i find him very attractive :tongue2
i don't think you can every count serena out. when she won the australian in 2007 she didn't look particularly great at the beginning. do i think an american will win. no not really but it makes it interesting since i do like her.
murray is doing what he needs to do to close out matches and i think he'll do better as the tournament progresses. the australian open being the first tournament of the year seems to have unexpected champions more so than the other majors so i really think he could make a good play at this.

Federer-Safin looks epic on paper, but which Safin will show up? The one where he upset Federer in the Australian Open semis, or the one who keeps losing 3-0?

my darkhorse of this tournament? Gael Monfils from France. 6'4" phenom and 22 years old. I saw him last night, and he looked phenomenal, and his draw looks positive before potentially facing Nadal in the quarters. He could give Nadal some problems.

Safin had a lot of potential back when he made his breakthrough in 2000 and should have followed that up with multiple Grand Slams (more than he currently has), which is what his talent deserved, but he's not the most dedicated player on tour and likes to party a little more than you'd expect from a professional tennus player in the upper echelons of the game. He seems to have matured a little though in the past year or so, so hopefully there will be some fireworks. Entertaining character. :)
and yeah, there always seems to be a surprise finalist nigh on every year at the Aussie Open recently, but there hasn't been too many so far. Lack of proper preparation and match practice probably plays a part. :(

let's not kid ourselves here safin hasn't done as well as he should have in the past because he's not as dedicated as he should be. i mean look at his sister she's got a ton of talent and only after she dedicated herself to being fit and controlling her temper did she do well. its funny because between the two of them they have so much talent and unfortunately marat is so damn emotional.
slyee - sexy yeah! but actually its weird because few expect you to know what you are talking about. i'm a bit more into it than most because i up and got a degree in sports business and have pledged myself to be in the sports industry. odd place for a woman for sure.

He's actually a decent player, and thought he would have kicked on when I first saw him a couple of years ago when his reputation was on the rise along with Gasquet, Murray and Djokovic. He seems to have plateaued a little though while Murray and Djokovic pushed on up the rankings.
Would be nice to see him do well, and he'd give Nadal a few headaches but I don't predict he'll do much more. If I recall, he hasn't won an ATP tour event since 2005, which demonstrates a lack of consistency at the biggies. :toothless

Gasquet-Gonzalez has got to be the match of the tournament. A lot of emotion and the crowd was really into it. Good job by both players putting all their effort into this match.

terrible that chic got hit with the chair. Oddly enough, she was interviewed by ESPN 30 minutes before the fracas happened.
anyways, epic match indeed. Gasquet had it in the 5th set, but just couldn't break Gonzo's serve.

It was an epic match and well worthy of match of the tournament so far, and it's fair to say Gasquet didn't choke either, he was just beaten by the better player over the final 3 sets, but he'll no doubt be labeled as such after the 5 set thriller against Murray at Wimbers last year and now this.
Federer, Murray and Nadal looked in ominous form this weekend and I'm a little fearful for the rest.
If they both progress, Murray v Nadal could be a classic.
