| That's what has put me off reading it for a so long. I remember a critic discussing the "aesthetics of boredom" in the novel. It's renowned for being incredibly dull for long stretches. |

| Nobody should read non-fiction books. They suck. |

it's getting a little tiresome with him describing everyone's ing outfits, down to the labels for every piece of clothing they're wearing. I know that's kinda the point, but still :p |
Keep at it. The more funny bits are totally worth it. |

Dick.
I'm still plodding through Huysmans' Là-Bas. It's awesome, I just ing suck at sitting down and focusing on one thing for extended periods of time. :[ |

On The Brothers Karamozov now, about halfway through. This novel is thoroughly kicking my ass. I expected to breeze through it as I did Crime & Punishment, but I simply can't bring myself to do that. It's taking me several hours just to get through 20, 30, or 40 (on a good day) pages due to me constantly setting the book down and evaluating my life (and trying to understand the Russian soul, which is bat insane). I'm getting headaches here :p.
I completely underestimated Dostoevsky because he had tendencies to babble a bit in his writing but this is pretty ing awesome. I figure in a few weeks I'll be able to move on to Tolstoy, whose work will probably take even longer to read :eyespop:.
Damn you, Russia. |
