About as much sense as Alexs last post, lol. With the bartending thing. It would not surprise me if there were some out there making 6 figs. And the responcibility for poeple drinking is not solely on the bartender IMO, as adults, people should be able to make the choice when to cut themselves off before they hurt or kill themselves. And 9 times out of 10 drunk ppl dont hate bartenders simply because bartender are provideing them with what they want, more booze. My question for you Vince, is why aren't you practicing SF4, your impending doom is coming........ |

I do..I'm the Housing Support Coordinator for an alternative housing provider..we are basically there to house the worst of the worst and make sure that they stay housed..I work with partner shelters and deal with the homeless population for the most part..
It's a great field to get into..you won't get rich and it has to be something you were born to do....but in the end..it's a profession that is never boring..and makes you feel like you are actually making some sort of difference in this world..even if it's moment by moment or person by person...

You compared your pay to that of a cops earlier and i can't help but dream up this self absorbed and deluded bus driver against the world universe you reside in. seriously dude, I could probably figure out how many cops have been killed on the job so far this year across north america. But how many bus drivers? I hadn't realized they were comparable before. You've enlightened me. You must wear a helmet and cape to work.
You're not getting paid well bud because you're job is harder than anybody else's here. You get paid well because of unions. and you just happen to work for a unionized industry that cripples the city when in goes on strike. Does anybody remember what a TTC strike can do? or if you live in ottawa what the OC strike did last summer? TOTAL CHAOS. It doesn't take an economist to know the most populous job-position employed in North America is that of the truck driver. So your wage certainly isn't explainable by the conventional laws of workforce supply and demand either.
I think it seems pretty simple to anybody that no one has a problem with your 65k wage. However a bus driver making six figures? Save me the unionized overtime formula bull. Point is simple. Does it make sense to you that someone who dictates foreign policy agendas, or social, or fiscal policies for 35million people make less that you're taughted heroes the bus drivers that make sure HUNDREDS TO THOUSANDS of people get to their next stop safe every day? I shiver. It's easy to see your opponents view. Not so much yours. Except that you love your own decision to forgo your field of educational specialization in trade for a good salary w/ benefits. Must have been a very difficult decision.

Kramer took over for a bus driver down an entire route (with no training) getting people to their stops, fending off a mal-content, AND managed to bring a victims severed toe to a hospital.............
and he did it for FREE! |
