200 more employees join workers paid $100,000 or better

That number includes 62 drivers and 21 station collectors, the people who staff subway fare booths. One driver, Hing Lee – about whom the TTC released no details – was paid $117,922.

This infuriates me, nevermind the whole Union argument but because TTC workers PARTICULARLY THOSE BEHIND THE GLASS are rude as . Anyone in a non-unionized job who treated customers like that would be fired instantly.

ooooo I hate unions SO MUCH.

+1

For the union members its incredible, job security, guaranteed raises, the RIGHT to strike if you unhappy with your contract once it expires...

But for the general public, Unions are nothing but headaches that won't seem to go away, at least IMO

ps for a TTC bus driver to be making $117,000+ is absolutely rediculous, no disrespect or anything but thats like my garbage man driving an Audi S4 and heading back to his 5000sq/ft home in the suburbs once his shift is over.....its mind boggling.

There is no ing way that any station collector deserves more than $50K ...& that includes danger pay.

They should all be replaced by robots, b/c $2.1Million for idiots to give change is the most disgraceful waste of public funds I have ever seen.

I'm about to go to work for Mississauga Transit, but I will address these comments when I get home from work. They may not deserve 117K but they deserve a lot. I will explain later..........

The drivers deserve a lot, they have a very hard job, and are responsible for the safety of thousands each day. The ticket takers can suck a big fat dick. Where the are those japaneese robots the world has been promised?

i will +1 to drivers deserving a good wage. it's actually hard work and i have the utmost respect to the good drivers on our streets.

we should get these to replace ticket booth attendants.

Im just waiting for one chance where a TTC ticket booth guy around with me I'll make a such a ing huge deal and make them feel like .

I saw this guy in the booth yell so hard at this old lady who was asking him for directions.

" I TOLD YOU ITS ON THAT SIDE IM NOT GOING TO REPEAT MYSELF " she almost had tears in her eyes and was so scared.

they should not get more than $9.00/hr for the ty info and CS they provide.

Don't get me wrong I know bus drivers deal with a lot of on shift, but $117,000?! It's not like you need a masters degree to figure out gas means go and brake means stop. lol i may have just woken up on the wrong side of the bed but i find this completely ridiculous and a waste of money.....now it makes sense why the TTC continues to raise fares

My uncle is currently working on integrating TTC into the future and told me they would be getting automated ticket collectors soon (I guess he can't legally say as the unions would have a fit).

Don't expect robots to take your change (as AMAZING that would be!!) but expect a prepaid transit card you hold against a machine when you leave and enter that takes an amount based on where you traveled. It works great and keeps fares down!

People pay a load of money for a higher education so they can one day earn that kind of coin. What's the average education of a TTC worker I wonder?
