TPB isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The appeal process will take years.

Furthermore, their servers are hosted using a distributed network. Since copyright law is different from country to country they can't really do anything.

ok, and how do you supposed they do this? the material on pirate bay is coded by the pirates so no one really knows what it is exactly.

basically now since you can use google to search for copyrighted material than google should be sued for facilitating piracy. but since google is huge of course no one will go after them.

Does Google publicly post legal threats from companies asking them to remove copyright material?

Either way, while I do make use of The Pirate Bay, and this case does highlight a number of issues when it comes to law, copyright and the 'digital age' - they were still a site who's primary purpose was to distribute pirated/copyrighted material.

No worries :) I should have specified. Once Kazaa started charging, I completely stopped downloading anything, unless it was a set from TA.

Just out of curiosity, doesn't TA fall under the same category as Pirate Bay? There are continual links supplied by members to ripped streams from lives sets taken from places like DI.FM and other online radio stations. Unless many of you have agreements from DI.FM this would make TA unwillingly a provider of illegal material. Even if some of these links were procured by certain members, with their memberships to *************, nothing changes.

Like I said... just curious.
