REALLLY disappointed in the sound ppl. Who's doing sound checks?! That was just AWFUL. I really felt bad for Jaren. It took a couple of people to help out with that even. Circus owes them some drinks.

Ya, me too. I was really disappointed in the sound guys. Maybe they forgot to do a test run. Anyway, I still had a great time.

Yeah, the sound was pretty EFFED up the whole night...was really getting into Matt's set, but the main room was so ridiculously loud I had to leave and go outside about halfway through, then stayed far away from the stage, really ruined the night for me. I also had 32db foam earplugs in the whole time, I felt so sorry for the people I saw holding their hands over their ears! :whip:
Maybe we need to start a petition or something...doesn't seem like anyone's listening (I guess they can't hear us anymore)...

Wow that's horrible. That's one thing that always bugged me about Circus. All of these incredible names come through that club but the sound is such crap I'd rather go see a DJ I like half as much at the Vanguard. I think the last time I was at Circus was for Solarstone and it looks like the sound has gotten substantially worse from all the reading I've been doing on TA.

I think they need to install a volume limiter or something...if whatever sound passed through the mixer was capped at 80%, for example, then even if a DJ pushed the mixer up into solid red I don't think the sound would become distorted. Then take a decibel meter around the room and adjust the limiter until the volume's at a safer range (85db is safe for approx. 8 hours, and earplugs will attenuate approx. 20db on average, so don't go above 100db to be safe). Better yet, max it at 85db and then nobody needs earplugs, but I don't think that will ever happen...

I did manage to get a great video of Matt & Jaren, and fortuntely she sang Dash Berlin feat. Jaren "Man on the Run" later in the set after some of the sound issues were cleared up! Jaren really does have a beautiful voice, and she comes so alive with the music! :)

Ugh!!! What a night to forget my earplugs. Seriously awful. Although I think Gerard's set sounded loud but still ok. Circus needs to fire their sound guy. Every room was way to loud and sounded bad. My last 3 trips to Circus have been the worse sounding it has ever been in the 9 years I have been going. Hire Robert Stern or someone else please. I love you Circus but this really needs to be addressed.
On the other hand, Matt and Jaren were great. They managed to get her mic to sound good at one point and her voice is just beautiful. Really enjoyed what I heard of Matt's set too. We came from a wine tasting party and hit our wall pretty early and took off.
