I don't know tbh, Haven't you exploded once? Or am I confusing you with someone else? So many people on these forums are irrational its hard to remember who isn't. |

lol, that's funny - I'm known for being calm and diplomatic but on here I loose it every so often.
Not sure it matters how long you've been on here, but a little while is needed just so you kind of know the history of the forums, also that you know what is good and bad for users and the forums they frequent. What matters more is your temperament, respect from other users (and to them), knowledge, and how available you are.
Everyone's human and has had a pissy fit on here once in a while, so I don't really think it's a qualifying skill to never had a blow up with someone.
p.s. I love the fact chrono has a problem with all of the people I think are truly knowledgeable, have good common sense, are helpful and huge contributors to the edm scene and forum - it really, says a lot. |

Great idea for a thread.
For starters, I'd nominate Theran and Diginut as administrators any day of the week. I think good moderators might also include RichieV, Subtle, DJ RANN, Stephen Wiley, and MrBoJiveJangles.
For the moment, what I'm seeing (and participating in at a seemingly counter-productive attempt to resolve) is conflict brought on by a few personalities creating friction against one another and that most of the damage is that tension "side-tracking" the main topic of the discussion. And I have to admit to being a part and parcel of that calamity, not limited to this thread.
That said, I think it's a drastic over-simplification to say that this is caused by some of the people and/or discussions taking place. I will say that there ought to be some moderation of threads to make sure that things aren't getting off-topic and that threads, such as this one, here, ought to be created to resolve it.
I think, if you're really serious about resolving the issues this forum needs, blaming it on any one phenomena is a mistake. Personally, I've found little nuggets of useful information that may have gone unsaid were it not for a little creative conflict. In spite of that, I think it's a good idea to try and control that portion of the conflict which is disruptive. |

If any of those guys you mentioned become a mod I might as well pack my . And anyone else who dares to disagree with them.
If we had a mod for this forum, they should be able to do everything but Ban and G-Ignore. Its a ed up place where someone takes administrated action against you because of their personal feelings getting hurt, and that is exactly the kind of action id expect from DJ RANN or Diginut. "I don't like your comment so you are banned." I know a few others on this forum who would be gone in a day or two as well. Long story short, no.
Being knowledgeable on how to make music or how to do the engineering of it, does not make one automatically able to deal with the politics and social environment that is the world of moderation. They are two completely different fields.
Because you can master doesn't mean you have the skills to deal with people.
@dj rann
I have issues with those people, because for the most part, I realize that the music industry as a whole is ed. So when someone comes to me telling me my way is wrong, that my established and well founded stance on how to do something, which always works..is wrong. Yeah there will be friction. A bunch of guys who read some books, and now think they are the heads of the industry, spewing out that industry propaganda, I don't have time for. |

Great post. I feel the same way :)
I also think a big and very simple part is to stop repetition of obvious threads that have been done to death. That alone would would the forum more productive. |

I'm actually hoping you would decide to stick around, because while there are a lot of things I (whole-heartedly) disagree with you on, you do have the capacity to generate sustained discussion and have an ability to look at almost any issue in a way that others might not. If you could do that in a less disruptive way, I think you and everyone else would be a lot better off.
Where I see you at odds with DJ RANN and Diginut are when they bring up very well reasoned points that you consistently deny. It's one thing if you don't want to take their word for what they're saying, but you seem to expect that if they don't take what you post, at face value, that it's some sort of attack against you. They seem frustrated when you begin casting aspersions against them while they're really just trying to add substantially qualified knowledge and experience to a discussion.
Regardless of who's to blame for your complaints, I would hope that you would be able to see past what are otherwise petty differences that you're just letting cloud the issue. |
