The mod situation, how many do we want?

I'm in favour of having all the responsible members who've been here a while with mod powers. That would include RANN, Diginut, Cryophonic, Theran, Storyteller, Acton, Jivebojingles, Theran (he's new but he wants it), and anyone else who's been on here longer than me and still posts a bit.
I don't think having 1 or 2 mods will work, because we're all busy and some of us don't post for months at a time. Diginut didn't post for several months for a while there. If that happens it would be good to have enough other mods to keep the place tidy...
But vote for how many mods you think we should have anyway, so we get an idea of what the general feeling is. If your in favour of smaller numbers, state why? |

Yeah, the music discussion has four mods too, and thats far more active.
Seems likely there will be only one if any at all. |

| two mods should be fine, one who's always here and another who's sometimes here, who could stick useful threads and such. |

I think they should get confirmation that a new mod is even allowed. Moderators represent the TA website, you can't just throw anyone up as a mod.
Id say Diginut as the "part time mod" and Subtle as the full time mod, they are both reasonable people, and Subtle posts every day it seems.
The rest do not take confrontation very well..or I don't know them so I can't suggest them. |

| agree here. I would suggest 3 mods and let them define a housekeeping regime as well. (ban rules, post edit/delete criteria etc etc) |

| Mods don't define the rules. The site admin does. This isn't going to be "'s world." the rules will be the same as they are for the rest of the forums. Speaking of which, what are the rules? I don't see a rules stickie anywhere. |

Well, if swamper doesn't let us throw up a couple of mods who are well liked by the community I think he won't have a music production forum much longer.
He doesn't really have any reason to say no and theres no reason why he couldn't put in more than one mod AFAIK.
I don't think one mod will work, because eventually we all have things going on that keep us busy for a few months. Even one of the most prolific members diginut didn't post for a while, so I'm sure the same thing will happen with anyone who's a mod. Its better if theres a few to cover for each other.
I suggest you all just vote on how many YOU'D like, and leave the matter of whether its possible or not to the admins. |

Whoa! How'd my name end up on that list?! :D
Seriously, I'm flattered, but I wouldn't be a very reliable mod. I've been pretty active here lately because I'm between big projects at work, but in a few weeks I'll be slammed again and probably won't be very active for a while. I'd vote for everybody else on that list, though, including kitphillips! |
