Depends on the movie. Something like Star Trek is worth the haul down to a theater for.

that is the movie that i went to go see in the theatre and it sparked this thread. the picture/experience was just bad on the regular screen.

Did you go to a Digital theater for it? I saw it at the AMC 24, and the picture quality was amazing. I think the AMC here has the best picture quality I've ever seen in a theater - when I saw Iron Man there, it was the first time I was actually a bit "wow" at the quality of the picture.

Regular theaters, meh - whatever.

My only complaint with AMC though, is the sound is way too loud, and not in a good way. I found myself plugging my ears once or twice because it got bothersome.

Did you see star trek at Manulife Center on Bloor? I saw it there on Saturday and the picture was really bad. There were these lines running through the screen in a couple of places the entire movie. really annoying. The sound was also nothing special.

I was actually saying before reading this thread, that I would of rather seen this movie at home!!

Don't expect a great theatre experience if you paid $4.00 on a Tuesday at Rainbow Market Square Cinema. :p

There are a few decent theatres around that have digital projectors, but most of the theatres are still crap and the audio is sometimes way off.

I try and go to the new Theatre in Oakville/Burlington (the one with the bowling alley inside).

They have 19+ theatres in there so you don't have any annoying kids talking the entire time, however its a premium to get in there.

Regretfully, I've never seen JAWS on the big screen. Wish they'd have a re-release for the movie, especially this past weekend because it's Memorial Day in the USA. It's tradition for years that all summer blockbusters kickoff the summer during the Memorial Day long weekend.

JAWS is widely accepted as the first blockbuster in cinematic history. :toocool:
