Who's with me!?

I am now officially off watching movies on regular theatre screens. If you have a pimp TV and a blu-ray player why would you ever put yourself through the iness that are the movies?

you never get the seat you want.
other people smell.
can't pause to go to the washroom.
can't rewind something cool.
the picture is grainy and crap.

Unless it's IMAX, I am not going.

oh man you dont want to be part of rod's club. you'll be wearing a hello tag, and spending tuesday nights with complete strangers coming to terms with your gambling addiction, not to mention you will have smelly penis or in your case a stink pink

You might want to try some of the movie theaters that use the DLP projectors!!!:eyespop: :eyespop:
Best god damn picture quailty you can expect at a movie theater, and soon all the theaters will replace their old projectors to the DLP ones. I watched Star Trek and my god the picture quality was so unbelievable.:eyes:

And after the meetings we head out to the local pub for half price wings and beers, we could always have a third...its starting to get awkward being out alone with Eric's mom.

The theatre can be fun once in a while. Certainly a pimp system at home is better for regular viewing. I don't have a Blu-Ray player but I have some Blu-Ray movies on the media center PC and they do kick ass. Probably not quite as good as the real deal, but actually a lot better than a standard DVD.

Other disadvantages to the theatre include long-ass previews, cell phones, and the loudmouth in the audience who never shuts up.

the theatre is loud, but the quality of sound in a good home theatre cant be touched. everything is so much cleaner and clearer in my living room than in any theatre ive been to.

the other cool thing about home is that youre always sitting in the sweet spot, whereas with a theatre you might be too close to one wall or the other, or the back wall, and that throws off the whole surround soundfield

The ONLY reason why I still go to theaters is because movies are released at the cinema first. Other than that I can care less about theaters. I've been every week for the past month, and will be there a few more times. Cause I can't wait for Transformers 2 and GI Joe to come out on Blu-Ray

+1

I entered the HD market a couple years ago and haven't gone back!

But don't forget, you need to have a awesome sound system that can support true HD compressions!

Visual beauty is only the half of it...

.mkv (Matroska) movies are awesome.

I run them on my laptop connected to my plasma.

nah sorry, even with a kick ass setup, I would still go to the theatre.

Actually not being able to pause adds alot to the experience... you can get easily immersed at the theatre and forget about everything else.
