lol. AJ, stepper as stand? |
Yes, as I said, that's gone now :) It's the only thing I had around the house that can support the 100lbs that beast is. A table I built in my workshop is supporting it now. |

Who's with me!?
I am now officially off watching movies on regular theatre screens. If you have a pimp TV and a blu-ray player why would you ever put yourself through the iness that are the movies?
you never get the seat you want.
other people smell.
can't pause to go to the washroom.
can't rewind something cool.
the picture is grainy and crap.
Unless it's IMAX, I am not going. |
How many blu rays you got? I got like around 60 so far. |

After rethinking this, no bluray for now, I will wait to get the second TV, probably an LCD LED like those new samsungs...
For the time being, I got that Western Digital HD Media Player for 99$USD, plays every damn format and then some.
Seeing There will be blood in bluray will have to wait :( |

unless you can get uncompressed sound on your WD media player i would vote for a BD player every day..once you hear that there's just no going back. i watch DVDs now and i hear the compression the way you would when you hear a 128k mp3 of a favourite cd.
dolby digital is an amazing codec...they fit a whole 6 channel movie soundtrack into a tiny little file, but once you hear lossless youre ruined.

^^ What he said. That is the only problem with the WD media player, it doesn't do dolby digital output. My buddy just got one, and had to convert the movies he downloaded, pain in the ass.
A good computer running XBMC is still the best way to go IMO. |

240hz will do nothing to improve the picture quality (brightness, sharpness, contrast ratio). Hell, mathematically, it doesn't even make sense to go beyond 120hz.
What I want to know, is why I cannot find a 20something inch monitor that is 120hz. If it makes sense for TV's, why not monitors? A 120hz, LED backlit monitor would be a dream. |

dude, have you seen the LED one in action??? the blacks are so black, the contrast and clarity are incredible... the image almost pops out of the screen. |

id rather go out into a more social setting than cocoon myself. But on a nice relaxing night a good movie at home is always a good thing!
As for the costs... get yourself a scene credit card :) |
