looking to get a blugay player that plays divx and all those files thru usb/sdhc.
Any recommendations?
I'm looking at the Panasonic BD80. |
Don't know anything about stand alone players out there, but I would recommend getting a PS3...
I still think its the greatest value out there for any BD Player.
I also have an LG-BH100 lol..its a hybrid that plays HD-DVD & BD! Bought it off of eBay for $100 a couple months ago! can't go wrong with that!

smart man, you get a video game system, blu ray player, 80 or 160 gig hdd and a media center.....the media center kills it for me because you stream everything wireless from you laptop/desktop.....
I got the Sony 46" W series with the MotionFlow 120hz, it gives off that 3d look....ing :eyes: goggly eyes....
and the ps3, sony blu ray player and a harman kardon reciever and the 6.1 theater set. hdmi blah blah.....
but it doesn't compare to "the experience" of going to the movies on opening night, with popcorn, and a giant mother F'ing screen in front of year.....
if you get stuck beside an that talks thru the whole movie, or step in gum, it's just bad luck on your part..... |

Not mention that you will always have the latest firmware and features available to your player.
The Watchmen, which I believe is one of the first, will be releasing the video game with the BD version of the movie on the same disc. I imagine that this will become more and more common in the future.
Then again, that would only be beneficial to gamers lol..but still.
And if you really wanted too...you can load linux on your PS3 and turn it into another computer. I put Linux on my machine and it runs great!

After rethinking this, no bluray for now, I will wait to get the second TV, probably an LCD LED like those new samsungs...
For the time being, I got that Western Digital HD Media Player for 99$USD, plays every damn format and then some.
Seeing There will be blood in bluray will have to wait :( |

My old setup before I bought a Wii and a proper TV stand. Go big or go home.

unless you can get uncompressed sound on your WD media player i would vote for a BD player every day..once you hear that there's just no going back. i watch DVDs now and i hear the compression the way you would when you hear a 128k mp3 of a favourite cd.
dolby digital is an amazing codec...they fit a whole 6 channel movie soundtrack into a tiny little file, but once you hear lossless youre ruined.
i have been without my ps3 for like 4 weeks while it gets repaired. i am frigging dying.
i had a pioneer elite bdp09fd for 3 weeks for a magazine review...it was an incredible time..what a machine |
