Change is in the wind for Cherry Beach Sundays (pg. 4)

I personally would rather dance on the grass than on sand.
Maybe Toronto is spoiled (no, really?) but we should be grateful for having something different like Cherry Beach - especially given how square Toronto is when it comes to having fun outside. I'm sure these events are a lot of work for the organizers no matter where the location is.

In the end it doesn't really matter..not every venue is every person's cup of tea....some people will love it..some will not...we're all entitled to our own opinions..that's the point of being individuals..different perspectives are a great thing...

It has nothing to do with being spoiled...and i don't know how you can quantify the comment about Toronto being square..I've pretty much spent the whole summer having fun outside..haven't gone out at night in weeks..boat cruises..festivals..parades..patios days, have pretty much taken up my time..

I'm sure as people start to experience it, they will form their own opinions..and it really won't bother me if they have an opinion that varies from mine..

I disagree with every opinion in this thread.

I stepped in last week and when I went to the water to wash it off my sandal I thought to myself "This is probably much worse than the ."

Go to Europe and then come back and tell me Toronto's not square. The no alcohol thing is the obvious aspect.

I'm from Europe and I was in Toronto 2 weeks ago, I was shocked that Alcohol seemed to be the evil, cannot drink in streets, cannot drink after 2am, buy alcohol only in government store (it's allowed even in the US) ... crazy.

Can't do all in Toronto with all these stupid ass bans...

and they just keep getting worse.

More outdoor parties would be great, start at 11am finish at 11pm, but even that seems to be an issue.

The alcohol crackdown is kind of funny given that when these parties first started (2002 or 2003ish) we used to buy beer from the promise guys themselves. I guess if they're going to go the legal route for the parties including permits they have to abide by the rules.

The cops let the natives and a collection of other alcoholics drink in the open outside bell trinity square (eatons centre) all day long until they end up unconscious and this happens every day. WHy is the law not enforced equally to all?

I've been to Europe..I was actually born there....

I just make the best of where I am and feel blessed to live in this city..I think Toronto is beautiful in it's own way and there is a whole bunch of going on in the summer..

The police seem to be pretty random on when / what they decide to crack down on. I've seen more than a few people get busted for drinking in Allen Gardens.

CB used to be a much smaller event. Now, it's much bigger - then one year they kept getting shut down by the police (didn't it happen 3 weekends in a row, with 1 time actually having police on horse back / riot gear?)

Year after that, Promise decided to start going the Legit/Legal route, but as a result - they now have a few rules they need to try and abide by.

But really, is it that hard to pour your drink into a pop/water bottle and not drink from the can and be a bit discreet? I dont think that's too much to ask for a free party.

Yes, but you're forgetting that the majority are obviously retarded. It's a pretty sad reflection of things when people need to be told what should be common bloody sense.
