If I remember the figures correctly, at least 77 of the some-odd-hundred TTC employees making a 100k+ are both-collectors. And while I understand some of it is over-time, I'm still convinced that bus-drivers and booth-collectors should not be making this much money, and that our transportation model is outdated compared to other, advanced countries.
So 'they' do make that much money. |

who here even give pays cash for fares?
i try to have as little interaction with humans as possible. i purchase bulk tokens when i run out and always go though the gate that you just drop the token into. |

I work six days a week every other week and still dont come close to that. But we are NOT high school drop outs. You need at minimum high school, and many of the new recruits have some form of secondary school education now. As for the transportation system, it is lagging behind models in Europe, agreed.
I'm not going to argue about the wages cause all you have to do is read the old thread, and we both know we will never agree on this topic...... |

If you make an honest wage cool... but 125 K to be a grumpy old in a ticket booth is not an honest wage.
No offence to the few TTC booth guys that are half way friendly. |

I agree. So long as we both agree that this model is out-dated, I don't suspect there is any need for us to go around in circles again. |

Oh we have our fair share of grumps here in Mississauga too. They are pleasure to work with either beleive me. But, and I hate to say this, it is these exact guys that give us a terrible name.
Personally I have at least one person every couple days tell me I'm the nicest driver they have ever had......I talk to them. If I'm driving and there is only a couple ppl on the bus, I'll get on the mike and start chatting to them, they usually move up to the front so I can hear them better and then they love the trip. Makes the day go by faster for me and a more pleasuable ride for them. |

there's NOTHING that would convince me that booth collectors need to be making more then I do (ha, I also sit on my ass the whole day at work)
overtime or not, all you do is count out tokens and oversee people paying, that's all
how the can they deserve more then 50K a year for that?

Iain, you should be paying attention to the road, not chatting with strangers! |

I can do both:) I always keep watch of the road and talk at the same time. Besides by the time I'm done talking with them their not starngers anymore. I don't know how many ppl i have met on the bus and now have on f/b. Now these ppl are usually my regulars who take my bus everyday. But ppl really do appriciate having a friendly driver, and its makes life less stressful driving too. |

I think part of the rational is that if you pay them higher wages they are less inclined to steal.... looks like that worked out just about as well as the Sheppard subway. |
