thats what I said. They will lose a lot of money next year, because I heard SO many people say they would be prepared next time around with "alternatives". I even overheard randoms that I didnt even KNOW, say this. haha! the convo was everywhere and should be noted.....

that's lame as . maybe you feel the need to defend thembc u play for them but c'mon.

they could have been booked by other promoters as the "special guest" bull or like Chaska already mentioned -

No. I don't feel the NEED to defend anyone. I am speaking based on my own past experiences as a promoter. If you disagree with me, fine...but please don't presume to know my motives.

as I said though...not signing exclusive contracts with djs would have been just a dumb move from a business standpoint. I'm not defending them. I'm just trying to explain why they did it, and why it isn't as crazy as people are making it out to be.

I said in my previous post, I can see how it wouldn't sit well with people looking for more afterparty options. But if you consider the amount of money they are spending on the event, they can't leave things like that to chance.

Think about it..lets say Richie Hawtin doesn't have an exclusive contract, and gets booked as a "special guest" by another promoter for an afterparty... There is NO WAY that that promoter, for financial reasons, could not announce that Hawtin is their guest. With his price tag, they would be relying on people KNOWING that he is playing their afterparty to make their money back...they would ultimately have to get the word out. And if news like that got out, people could very realistically choose not to pay to see him at Randall's Island, and go to the afterparty instead. Even if the promoters ddn't intentionally get the word out...word gets out!

MADE could have just rented out a few more venues.

During the STC days everyone knows they were booking Pacha and/or Cielo at the same day/time. Why not now?

This isn't something impossible. Prob could have lead them to have more money with another bar tab + admission at a different club.

The above argument makes more sense than the previous one. If they wanted to, they probably could have rented out a place like Rebel for their techno acts, and kept Pacha more trancey. Then again, how thin are we expecting Made to spread themselves on such a massive weekend?

In addition to putting on a massive festival for the first time, we are now demanding that they do multiple afterparties per night...? Really? C'mon....

The contract thing happens in Miami every year as well. Carl has had an exclusive conrtact with Ultra the past few years. I think Sander had an exclusive some where this year in Miami as well. So it's not unheard of.

I know some people wanted more after parties but from what I heard the after parties weren't that full any way. I went to resolute sunday at bar 13 which was full but not too packed at all. So there was a great (by great I do mean filthy dirty ) techno party in a really good techno venue for anyone who wanted one.

My biggest complaint was just not enough garbage pails. Which is pretty minor other than the fact the entire floor of sunday school was trash during speedy j. It was like shin deep. Which is kind of understandable because the nearest trash pail was by the bathrooms.

later on during the night on both nights, like during dt,calderone, hawtin it was not just the garbage cups and paper on the floor it was all cracked out people
i probly tripped over atleast 5 people just sitting on the floor in the middle of the dancefloor...they should deff get better lighting in there also
and atleast 2 of those 5 people were people g'ing out or in a k hole discusting (vomit)

I understand why Made did that, they were looking for their best interests. But considering so many ppl under 21 were at the festival and the afterparties were all over 21, I doubt it would've been seriously affected, people are always looking for a chance to dance under the sun. I would've gone anyway (and I'm almost 30). But nevermind this, the fact of the matter is that this event will grow for the next years if it becomes an annual thing, having more afterparties and options can potentially make Made much more money. Pacha will not suffice. They've never had any problems getting venues for their events, they could easily do it for next year.
I'm not complaining much anyway, it pretty happy with how everything resulted, there are just some things to consider next year, should they do this again.

LOL, u should read the ism or bluelight.

Don't get me wrong though, it's fun every once in a while but by no means I'm a k head. That's just embarrassing.
It's all about who you're with and that you're going to to be watched should you turn into a plant. K holes should be reserved for downtime at the end of the night and not in a public place, IMO, but happens and the least ppl should do is to manage to stay out of crowds. Smart ppl party safe ;)
