EZ Review Pros & Cons (pg. 8)
View this Thread in Original format
aNYthing
Pros:
Venue
Sick line-up (except Guetta)
Stage Set up
sound
convenience
VIP area
meeting Lindstrom and getting to shake his hand
Couches in VIP (soooo good to sit on one when you need to  )
Friendly bar staff, pouring generously
plenty of things to do and keep things interesting
Markus and f*king Menno

Cons:
Guetta as closer (or even someone in a line-up)

Security staff wouldn't allow drinks from VIP to be taken out (had to sneak some to my friend)

Same security dick asked me if I had any E - I told him " no, but I have (a) crack. Wanna sniff it?" :)

Going with a friend who kinda spoiled the night by being a grouch

Not being able to go to the afterparty

Getting pulled over for spot DUI check on way home and ting bricks.... luckily I was nice and calm by that time. - so, being let go and not being arrested should definitely go into "PRO" column

Overall, fantastic night out. Amazing. Thanks Made, can't wait for EZ2.

No. I don't feel the NEED to defend anyone. I am speaking based on my own past experiences as a promoter. If you disagree with me, fine...but please don't presume to know my motives.

as I said though...not signing exclusive contracts with djs would have been just a dumb move from a business standpoint. I'm not defending them. I'm just trying to explain why they did it, and why it isn't as crazy as people are making it out to be.

I said in my previous post, I can see how it wouldn't sit well with people looking for more afterparty options. But if you consider the amount of money they are spending on the event, they can't leave things like that to chance.

Think about it..lets say Richie Hawtin doesn't have an exclusive contract, and gets booked as a "special guest" by another promoter for an afterparty... There is NO WAY that that promoter, for financial reasons, could not announce that Hawtin is their guest. With his price tag, they would be relying on people KNOWING that he is playing their afterparty to make their money back...they would ultimately have to get the word out. And if news like that got out, people could very realistically choose not to pay to see him at Randall's Island, and go to the afterparty instead. Even if the promoters ddn't intentionally get the word out...word gets out!

The above argument makes more sense than the previous one. If they wanted to, they probably could have rented out a place like Rebel for their techno acts, and kept Pacha more trancey. Then again, how thin are we expecting Made to spread themselves on such a massive weekend?

In addition to putting on a massive festival for the first time, we are now demanding that they do multiple afterparties per night...? Really? C'mon....

Couldn't have said it better myself..lets just keep in mind that 6 people pulled off all of Zoo weekend and now we are disappointed in the after parties...nowhere was it ever said that Made needs to even provide us with after parties when they just gave us 22 hours of music in 2 days.

Overall I think that Made did a great job

My only big CONS are the price and choice of beers and the lack of choices of food and places to buy them.

Can't wait till next year!!!

I'm not complaining much anyway, it pretty happy with how everything resulted, there are just some things to consider next year, should they do this again.

Nice! Like a true professional should. :D

Also, I'm def on board for bringing Lee, S&D, & Howells next year! Lee was def mentioned at our after after party and the consensus was unanimous for sure.

+10000000000 for Howells and I would LOVE it if they could get Sasha AND Digweed TOGETHER on one stage!

I saw many DJ's I wouldnt normally see and I gave them a chance and stayed to catch a few tracks of their set. I was really pleased at the talent selected for the event. Well, minus that guy that was singing reggae on the main stage. He didn't really fit at EZ imo and there were all of 10 people total watching and for a main stage thats not nearly enough. Deadmau5 also lacked energy and did nothing for me.

For next year....(hoping for)

Sasha (Digweed or NOT, hopefully not lol)
Steve Porter
Tiesto vs. Ferry
Justice
Gareth Emery
Matt Darey
Deep Dish
Umek
Blank & Jones
Way Out West
Steve Lawler
SebG
I would like to see M.I.K.E aka Push

Personally, I would like to see more locals for the early time slots (Yeah, Francois K, DT and Calderone are locals, but I mean the lesser known), Sleepy & Boo did a great job and a lot of others would've done really nicely too. Connie would've been great at the Sunday School tent, to give an example.

Having Heidi open was kinda dumb, I was rushing as fast to Randall's as I could to catch her set and managed to miss it :whip: Buttrich opening was dumb too, he played the most boring set of the weekend, and I know he can play a banging set (he would've if he had a better time slot). Having locals open would save Made some coin and it would be great for them and the scene.

+1

Seth Troxler opening kinda suck but he did play the main stage which was super wicked.

I didn't go but still. Seth is THE man and his shirts always ROCK!!! \o/
