Pioneer contacted my dealer and my dealer contacted me saying they will replace both units. That's customer service! |

Let's face it, if Pio had treated you in any other way it would have been like shooting themselves in the foot.
One of the first people to buy such a massively important product from them, your valued opinion will be heard louder than any subsequent customer on these forums........
That said, I'd be ing livid if I'd got something less than perfect for that money.
Isn't it odd that the minute these things come out the 1000s look like a throwback from the 80s!!!
I need some!
PM Me anyone in the UK that wants to buy 2 mint MK3s. |

So i got to try out the 2000's last night...
I dunno what i was expecting but to me it just felt like a 1000 with some new lights on it lol I can see how the USB thing is nice but really thats only ever going to be really usful if every club has them otherwise u still have to have CDs with u anyway. They looked cool but apart from that not much else i really had to say about them.
EDIT: to be fair i didnt actually get to experiment with them to much as i was playing for about 500 ppl at a packed club and didnt want to F*** up and look like an idiot lol so if i get a chance to try some out when im not playing out then might be different |

But that's the whole point... you had never used them, walked up to them, and used them just like you had used 1000's. They didn't mess with the very familiar interface.
All of the "neat new stuff" requires you to dig deeper. |

Isn't that more or less what they are? To me, these things seem like a half assed effort on the part of pioneer.
Although I guess since the CDJ1000 is so successful, then "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" sort of applies to this situation. |

To me they are absolutely brilliant.
I mean I really really like them. And I'm not a pioneer fanboy.
I purely hate the price they're set at. But that's a given :) If every club (and they will) get a set of these you'll be laughing with your memory stick and headphones in tow.
How cool would that be. Rock up with your headphones and memory stick. Boom I'm ready to rock this place.
But It'll take another few years until we're there. |

You like them in general or you think they are a big step up from the CDJ1000MK3? |

That's exactly what I feel about them. Much as the "features" seem like developments, it's far more about getting people to pony up some more cash for a "new" model rather than offering something "new".
For a start no realistic DJ is going to go to a club just with a memory stick and think "it'll be fine". You're still going to take your CD wallet in case (especially as USB slots are some of the easiest thing to damage on any piece of kit and Ryan is not the first person to say there has been an issue with the USB on the 2000 now) then to use the other functions you have to go through layers, which to me negates the point of CDJ's - why not just bring a laptop and use whatever CDJ's (in most cases 1000's which are certainly up to the task).
And that's coming from someone who dislikes laptop sets.
I think it's more lights and some extra functions which don't amount to much, and certainly not the cash they're asking for.
I'm not sure every club will buy these - all the big companies I know that do major events hire, look for stability, build quality and longevity, clubs included, and so far it seems the 1000 fares much better. Combine that with the fact that nearly every pio model gets a revision (mk2/Mk3 etc.), I can't see businesses adopting or DJ's requesting them on riders them that fast yet.
Maybe I'm wrong though? |
