Uk prices are:
CdJ2000- £1495
CDJ900 - £1099 (same price as the CDj1000mk3 which is NOT being discontinued)
Thats what were told at the launch presentation last nite at any rate...
So if you want the price in euros, work it out from there...

I can see the hype is out there for these units :)
Prices in europe:
cdj-2000 around 1700 Euros
cdj-900 around 1200 Euros
thats a lot, good luck pioneer with your marketing :P all those little boys dreaming about them because armin said they're fantastic :) |
Nothing to do with Armin saying so- he said they are fantastic, simply because they are fantastic.
It does something that has been lacking before- bridging the gap between laptop/digital systems and CD players with a common standard and unit.
If Pioneer hadn't incorporated any or all of ableton, serato, and traktor into it, it would fail spectacularly..but they did, and rightly so.
I have ALREADY been sent a tech rider for a dj in december listing these units and only these units...(they used to specify mk3s) they are going to become the A list unit of choice, and consequently they will filter down to smaller venue and home use.
Cheers

Freak,
Can you please explain how Ableton is incorporated into these units? So you connect the USB and then what? |

I remember people used to moan about how a laptop would detract from a dj's performance. I think those days are finally behind us and that people care less and less what the dj in front of them is using as long as the sound they are creating/playing is top notch.
If these units allow more creativity and combinations (which they obviously look like they will) then it's definitely a step in the right direction.
However, knowing that it will probably be another 2-3 years until these might filter down to the masses is a little depressing, but I suppose I'm only a little jealous of those that can afford them so should shut my green ass up :D |

Not true: although they didn't realise it at the time, the DN-S1000 is an awesome CDJ - it's the smallest CD deck which won't fall apart and also has loops and a few fx...
= perfect for taking on the road as an extra deck for adding in loops etc. I challenge anyone on here to suggest a better deck for this purpose.
(fail on the HD2500 may well be the case, just thought I'd point out the above) |

Unfortunately this is far from the truth. At least for me locally I get looked down upon and talked by the vinyl purists and people who are frozen in time when it comes to technology. I still think that we are a couple years from having it be universally accepted. |
