Prepared sets, looping, all those fancy wave forms, effects and color lights what a load of crap. Actually all you really need is good music + nice transitions and thats it. :D |

2 of any deck is better than 1 of any CDJ. |

This is called pre-planning at some circles :D
I definately agree with the notions that the CDJ2000 is one overpriced piece, but I need to play around with it before dismissing it as useless upgrade. These new features MIGHT actually make things so much easier.
One thing that I was really dissapointed for was a lack of pitch (key!) knob. When Traktor can pull this off almost seamlessly I really see no reason why a CDJ2000 wouldnt be able to do it.
Yes I know there is a feature called "color" on the DJM800, but it sounds really bad and that is because djm800 has to adjust the incoming audio signal in real time with minimum delay (not much room for proper processing). On CDJ2000 using oversampling & buffering to achieve a much greater quality of pitch-shift would have been SO great.
While on the subject: Has anyone been able to play with these new models? Have they improved the algorithms behind "master tempo" ? On cdj1000 & Cdj800 MT became useless when going out of +-3% range (Especially the lower frequencies). |

of course it's out of reach for the average bedroom dj, this is obviously aimed for clubs that often have big names coming through on a regular basis, djs that are playing multiple sets a week and anyone else that is in need to have large amounts of music at their fingertips while eliminating the need to be staring at a laptop screen
even the 1000 was overkill for the average bedroom dj (hence the introduction of the 800 and now the 900), it still made touring and working dj's jobs a lot easier, this intends to do the same
i know this is going to make my life easier
what i'm wondering though is if they'll offer the organizing software without having to buy the unit so if you do get to play on them, you can organize your stuff beforehand without owning one of the units |
Big touring DJs are by and large all using some form of traktor/serato now, doubt this will make much difference to any of them.
Most of the big DJs I'm into are using 1200s with control vinyl anyway.
This looks like its almost exclusively aimed at bedroom DJs.
I could see Dubfire and a bunch of trance DJs getting excited about these, thats pretty much it... |

or the "big guns" that use it have a sponsorship deal with pioneer as a way to sucker people into paying too much for something that they do not really need.
unless it is in a dj rider, i don't see clubs doing anything but renting them for the occasion. It is an un needed expense if you already have the 1000's. |

It won't beat any DVS solutions neither feature-wise nor exposure-wise.
I can see top jocks requesting the 2G's on their riders (for Pioneer contract reasons), but that's about it.
I wonder how well the quantize feature is implemented in rekordbox/CDJ. |

Exactly
The price is overkill and as Nelly said they finally caught up with the ability to see the waveform like in a dvs. Kinda late if you ask me. I don't see anything wrong looking at a laptop screen while you dj. Its obvious the majority of people don't go to the clubs thinking if the dj is gonna look at them face to face. They go for the music. I also don't see looking at CDJ-2000 lcd screen and looking at a laptop screen any different |

That's a pretty ignorant statement. And please do list off some big djs that use traktor/serato? While as I'm personally a proponent for dvs saying they are widely accepted by the tops of the ranks is complete and utter horse.
And these WILL sell well. They will be overpriced at first and then come down; it's basic economics. They know there are people that will buy them whatever the price so they'll keep them high until their sales start to drop from all of those guys already picking up theirs then they'll drift down to the masses that won't overpay for them.
If you think about it for someone that was using cdj1000mk3's prior it's pretty much identical to picking up Traktor Scratch Pro/Audio 8/MBP price wise. |

Probably none that you care about but every single name touring Europe is, most DJ who I consider to be of some value. The holdouts still only playing vinyl/cd are becoming more rare.
I'm not talking about the DJ list. |

To keep it in perspective.. you can get a xone4d brand new for the price of a CDJ-2000. So instead of getting 2 2000s, you can get a xone4d and two 1000mk3s. Its fairly ridiculous how much they are charging for these, but i can see the justification.
I still want them just for ballin/bragging rights though.. |

i can see that happening for the first while until they come down in price, but really though, after a few big shows they'll make that money back
and if they're worried about them getting stolen, they have one of those laptop lock things which is nice, i wouldn't want anyone walking off with my new 2 grand deck |
