Damn those guys were good at what they did. IMO they are responsible to the current Russian deference for authority, and lack of respect for personal freedoms.
quote: | And that can be easily explained by the interaction with neighbouring peoples as well. The constant interaction between them is behind one of the causes behind a very interesting phenomenon in South-East Europe: The Balkan Sprachbund. If all these peoples lived in complete isolation, it would be impossible for their languages to converge the way they have been converging. Naturally, cultural contact does not equal sexual contact... but, let's face it, it takes a really unhealthy dose of xenophobia to completely avoid intercultural bonking :D |
Lira you have to include the term "intercultural bonking" in the first paper or book you have published... I will expect an autographed hard copy. |

That's possible, though they were actually quite tolerant when compared to the usual stereotype.

Aw, man, I can't publish in my first paper any more. But, I think I can find some space in my first book to write that :D |

when you say russian you mean russkiye rather than rasskiye? anyway true there are a lot of fair skinned russians with light coloring but there are a good number of people with dark coloring and pale skin who are ethnic russians. when i wrote dark i didn't mean people who look like they come from the caucausus what i meant was there are subtle asiatic features among many russian people. |

Hmm not sure what you mean by "rasskiye". Not familiar with the term.. is that "Pасские" in Cyrillic?

True blonde hair and blue eyes are recessive genes and there is a lot of variety. But on the whole we're much fairer than Serbs/Croats/Macedonians. The image of the ethnic Russian peasant amongst Russians is typically fairly scandinavian looking.

Very true.. particularly in facial structure. My grandmother's village was relatively close to Siberia and they all have high cheek bones and slightly asian looking eyes. Though I suspect it's because there was a large settlement of Mari people in the area.. who look a bit Asian but are actually Finno-Ugric. |

pronounced like "a" but "o", people who are russian but on their passport it might say jewish or another ethnic group. either way, i'm well aware blond hair and blue eyes are recessive. i'm not arguing with you, i was just pointing out that russia isn't full of natural blonds like some people think; a fair number of people have different looks that are also uniquely russian.
basically, i saw more fair people in finland over 3 days than i did in russia over four months when i was a student years ago...anyway i'm done
here is my contribution

Ah ok.. perhaps you meant Rossiyskiye as an adjective or Rossiyani as a noun. That is people (citizens) of Russia, as opposed to ethnic Russians.
