to a certain degree promoting is okay, but thats the perfect example of whats bothering me.

i just wanted to find out how other people felt about this... if everyone decides they dont care then whatever, i'll just let the issue die.

Altho spamming can get quite annoying (especially to partys nobody cares about) I implore you to be lax about this - especially in this area. Florida has very little resources for event promotions. Here in Orlando it is ILLEGAL to flyer.. radio sucks.. and print ads are a waist of money. What is a dance bbs without the dance part?

As a promoter I am a bit biased. But I will tell you that if all my promotional means dissipate - there will be no more parties! :(

well, after reading all the replies on here, its very disheartening to read what other TA's feel about those who do post, allbeit, promo threads.

I do agree that the rules must be enforced or restated, but to persecute the promoters who are actually out there pushing the non-existent scene in their areas, just plain sucks. I know meeko on a personal level, has all the intentions of making the scene better than it is. I was the one who introduced him to the forum about 6 years ago..and this was the place for us to be current with what we love, EDM, and those who also are into it.

But many TA's are bias towards what/who they like..point blank! This is not to say anyone is a bad person, or better than others. But mostly, noone responds to threads or comments unless they know you. I've even seen mixes go unread or unlisted to because the 'noob' didn't post a tracklisting.

For the record, there is no money to be made in this scene, unless you are producing tracks that are being signed to labels. The parties we do throw in the Tampa/St. Pete area, are to promote the up and coming dj's/producers who are pushing our same sound. Maybe they too have not made it to ULTRA status, but we feel responsible to exposing them to a wider audience.

Maybe one day a lurkin' noob will see such a wack local flyer and get excited about dance music in their area. That would be a fine day indeed, when the scene can grow due to music, and less by how big your name is or your daily post count.

I encourage those who can, to make it out to any of our events, as we are always eager to meet others in the scene, hopefully then we can put this nonsense aside and promote what we all love, The Music! Because that really trumps it all, or at least it Should!!

Wow! Some of you people have waaaay too much time on your hands. I am baffled that me bumping my own post has caused 6 pages worth of bickering. ing ridiculous! I admit, I broke your gay little forum rules, I apologize. I only bumped the thread once. I was really just posting additional information about "U-Night 2." As a matter of fact I was planning on posting a link to my event on wanttickets.com, but you guys got crazy and locked the thread.

Plain and simple, the reason why I use forums is to promote events and mix sets. Other people come on for other reasons. I am on several forum sites (THM-DJs.com, 8up.com, Nohaters, FunkTheNation, Ravelinks...) and have NEVER had a problem posting my events and/or bumping my own events. I'm sorry, but I have a real career and use my extra time to promote my passion, EDM. I simply do not have time to post on every site.

I have been using this site since 2005 which I know is longer than most people. Am I still a noob? I know I've posted several mixes, advertised for radios shows, and obviously have posted events that I am involved in over the last 4 years. Is that really a crime? Treason? Is that a sick joke? Do you even know what treason is?....give me a ing break!

Furthermore, I do not organize/promote/DJ parties to make money. I simply do it for the love of the music. It seems that because the flyers I post don't have what you consider worthy artists you call it spam. That's BS! Was the Crazy Larry or Grumptronix shows spam? We are looking into booking Konrad Black and/or Loco Dice in the near future...Will that be spam? Did you read the U-Night 2 flyer? There are several djs signed to record labels (i.e. Hallucination, System Recordings, Abstract Logic Recordings, Knob, etc). The real problem here is that some of you haters don't want to support the underground scene. You would rather support the commercialized artists who get play time on mainstream radio stations. Trust me, I have been around for a while now, have been to many shows over the years and have seen what BPM or DJ Mag consider the top DJs. I much rather listen to lesser known underground artists. For example, I would rather watch Bob Skies throw down over Markus Schulz any day of the week.

Part of rebuilding the scene is to support local artists. If you guys really want to ban or suspend me for posting my events then so be it. If the posts didn't get buried in that really long Florida Events Thread I wouldn't have a reason to post in the main Florida forum. I do it because it is easier to notice there. Here's a possible solution:

Can you create a thread for each area? Posting all of Florida in one area is like trying to shove 10 pounds of into a 5 pound bag. I think if there was a Tampa Bay thread or even a Central Florida thread it would be less cluttered. This way all of you people who live 300 miles away don't even have to look at my spam.

i think everyone should promote this thread on other message boards. ...... for no real reason.

I'm all for freedom to post whatever one wants, yet all forums have rules. So the only thing getting out of hand is this thread, as the issue has already been decided. http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...0&forumid=43&s=

So now just deal with it. Post events in the EVENTS thread. If you need to make individual threads simply post in the 'chill out' thread, or the 'what you are currently listening to' thread, or post in any other threads once in a blue moon. If you cannot do that you obviously are NOT interested in "furthering any scene" as claimed, only interested in furthering YOUR OWN BOTTOM LINE.
