Clearly you've never heard of a few little things called Detroit Techno or Chicago House. While you're at it, go ask Sasha and Digweed what they thought about Twilo in NYC.

because he is hyped up and overrated by every johnny-come-lately trance fan on the planet for all the wrong reasons. because around 2003-2004 he was at least 10x better than he has been in the last 5-6 years. because he hangs on david lewis' every word and dove headfirst into commercial production. because he's become a total label whore. because he chose to be a popularizer rather than a trendsetter. because there is essentially nothing good about what he does in or for the scene today.

There's nothing wrong with making money.
Armin was born a poor black baby in Brooklyn. Now he has an accountant to measure his stacks of cash, a beautiful girlfriend who can babble all day about the superiority of Sony headphones, and he plays records all day.

Yeah, I do think you're all a bit jealous. , I mean THE MAN SPINS RECORDS. FOR CASH. Any dip monkey can do that, a dip just like you. He beat you to the punch. He doesn't have to go to record shops like you, he gets records sent to him. He doesn't even have to fight anyone to get a gig on any day of the night like you. He gets overbooked and has to fake a family death to get a break. And he has beautiful hair (FACT: none of the the armin haters have hair, except Schadenfreude. I don't know why.)

And there is nothing at all for him to be ashamed about. His productions are , his label is garbage. But he does the same thing AS THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY. You use a cross fader, he uses a cross fader. You play to a specfic crowd. As does he. The only difference is he doesn't go to JohnDigweed.com and post pictures of homosexuals in turtlenecks dildoing each other in an art house.

I find it unfortunate how sensitive americans are, they act all gung ho with guns but can't take criticism.

fact is europe made electronic music... it was the UK hip hop scene that started up detroit etc...

music goes back.. and back and back, and while it all connects san francisco goa israel (being an american puppet state and vice versa) etc... tech schools like the one JMJ went to, etc..

fact is europe has supported "the so called underground music scene" the UK germany etc.. have been major infuences.

The US still has yet to have a good commercial trance artist.. the closest they have come is christophere lawrence and he no offence is only mediocre compared to the greats in the EU.

The US has however made a large commercial scene for slow tempo house, techno, and has had some good breaks artists such as crystal method, and fat boy slim... djs such as carl coxx, jeff mills and others have made names for themselves.. but frankly america is very much lacking as far as electronic music is concerned.

If you dispute this kindly present your electronic wizards because at best most american produced electronic music has been low key and weak as far as skill and memory - if you look at the big name electronic pop acts.. most come from Europe.

While you live in denile to defend your america ego.. fact american electronic music is weak compared to europe don't dispute it.

Your big name artists mostly make crap pop, make millions on it due to the number of wankers in your society, all about image, and little more.

nothing against america but you have yet to make a good edm artist (argubly other than crystal method crew)

if it makes you feel any better canada has even fewer emergent EDM artists that arn't painful to listen to.

once again if you dispute this kindly post up titles and artists in the EDM olympics america would get whipped. All americans seem to be able to access at is making weak house. like I said though post up if you dispute this. I'm eager.

great post.

If you liked trance back in the 90s....there is going to be a chance that you converted to a house fan by now. The stuff Armin spins just doesnt cut it...Its fun to on him since he used to be considered one of the best before. As of now the guys just not satisfying. :o

clearly the scope of your knowledge when it comes to electronic music is limited to trance and trance alone. this makes for some hilariously absurd statements like the ones above, but sadly you don't know electronic music or the usa scene for

ill always be a supporter of armins just because before he got super big he was always a very approacable guy when he would dj in d.c.i remember when Iio- Rapture fisrt came out and he remixed it.he was set to dj that night in d.c and im sitting there dancing and i look next to me in the crowd and its armin.

i just sat there and talked to him and he was just really happy to be there playing music.i went to his shows often until he got bigger and bigger and finally became number one.i showed up to his show and you just couldnt move.they had packed the place beyond capacity and that was it for me.

id still go see him if he was in a venue that was large enough.as for the music he plays then and now its like that with every artist to me.old fans dont like the new stuff, new fans dont like the old stuff blah blah blah.if you like him listen.if you dont.dont.thats the great thing about music theres something for everyone.

Actually, it's Armin ASSUMING that they have horrible taste, and deciding himself that he'd rather play the same old formulaic music, because he knows it'll get him paid.

This doesn't automatically mean that these people would never like it or "get" it if he played what he really likes and what he really finds interesting. It just means that Armin thinks with his wallet too much to bother taking a corresponding creative risk.
