I know it's WMC time, but I'm glad a thread on DEMF got started on NYTA. I bought my presale ticket and booked a hotel. All I have to figure out is how to get time off from work.
Anybody else going or thinking of going?
Also, this is my first time. If anybody has any suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them. :) |

I've been having arguments over this with my husband, I have to go! So I'm secretly saving money, LOL, once I book the hotel, he won't be able to say no.
It really is a dirt cheap trip if you get tickets and all in advance, especially if you share rooms, plus I am thinking of driving up with some friends to lower the expenses. With hotel, transport and festival tickets, we might be around 500 for both of us (depending on if we share the room). |

I think it's possible to swing $500 for two, but it will be tight. Maybe if you do the math for the cost of WMC, it might sway his opinion. DEMF is an excellent deal & amazing music.
I booked a room at the Double Tree because it was close to the festival and cheaper than Ren Cen. For 4 nights (Fri - Tues), it came out to be around $630 taxes included. I know there are cheaper hotels out there. And you could stay for less days. The DEMF thread on TOTA is helpful in that regard. I think I saw you on there already.
I'll probably do the shared hotel thing, too, so if you need a place to stay... :) But please, don't be all married coupley around me.

LOL, no, we aren't like that (for the most part).
I think $500 for both is plenty: 80 for festival + 3 nights hotel divided by two + gas and tolls divided with others. Of course I'm considering other parties, food, drinks etc as extras, so that is not included in the $500 budget. We don't do WMC, tbh, I have no interest, I'd rather go to Hawaii if we'd have to drop that much money for a trip (and Hawaii would probably be cheaper). It's kinda tough to convince him since he's not as much into the music as I am.
We have some friends that already asked us, and I think we might just end up rooming with the ones we are driving up to Detroit with, makes things a little easier that way. I haven't figured it all out yet, all we know is we're going early Saturday so we don't have to pay another night for hotel. Our friends are going to Miami, so we're starting to plan when they come back. |

I have gone the past 2 years and have had the most amazing times of my life.
Renaissance hotel is the funk!
My fav after party was @ TV Bar. Goodness - was it ever crazy?
Year before my fav spot was Berts on Broadway - but last year it wasn't open :(:(:(. The greek food at the festival is delish!!!
Detroit is so full of win. I am skipping this year cuz I have started my Occupational Therapy courses - so I can't fuk around. Last year WMC + DEMF almost killed me  |

Well, it looks like I'm starting a new job on Thursday, so I'll have the dough for May :D The way it's looking, I'm going to have to pay for the trip because Felix doesn't want to. He says he's sick of spending money on partying and that going to Detroit doesn't count as a trip because there is nothing to see there, lol. |

Aww man. I dragged my boyfriend out the first year - he enjoyed the festival and he enjoyed 1 afterparty cuz it was so grimey - u couldn't help but love it.
Detroit is a fun experience.
I will go back next year.. It's just this year I picked WMC - Mostly cuz I am from there so I don't have to worry about a place to stay or a car or w/e.
But if u guys need any info - I can help u out. Gonna miss it this year but I know it's for the best. (School first! Especially since I got accepted into a program that is pretty competitive) |
