I donīt care what the actual history is. Whatever the history is, the sentences are generic, and do not reference any single religion. As such, I find it difficult to argue their removal based on religious offense. |

Because the existence of any god should not be the business of the State. Ever. Leave that to the loonies in churches not the people that decide the fate of men and women, or to the minds of children.
Religion is cancer and this is the same thing as giving children cigarettes and telling them to smoke up. |

That's cool. I can totally see where you're coming from and I genuinely respect your opinion. Now, having said that, I would like to politely inform you that you seem to be failing to grasp the concept of separation of church and state. This concept does not exist merely for one religion such as Christianity, it exists for any and all religions. No religion is ever to be lumped in with State affairs. Ever. |

Oh please. Religion is no more cancerous than any other activity persued by humans. Science gave us the nuclear bomb for īs sake. And again, youīre confusing religion with the concept of God. They, like church and state, are also seperate. You can believe in God without subscribing to a religion.
If a God DOES exist, then I should think that the state would want It on their side, assuming it takes sides at all. Since God canīt be disproven, I would think it prudent to at least as for Itīs protection. |

I understand that itīs not JUST Christianity. Iīm arguing that God exists seperate from religion. A concept everyone arguing against me seems unable to grasp. You can believe in God without subscribing to any one religion. As such, the simple belief in a higher power doesnīt breach the seperation of church and state. |

Santa Clause can't be disproven. Nor can the Tooth Fairy.
The concept of god or spirits or anything like that should not be built around the idea that you don't have proof that they DON'T exist. Everything else in the entire human construct is based around the concept that things can be seen and perceived and thats why we know they exist and how they interact with the world.
The only reason for any sort of higher power belief is to explain what could not be explained, and that was only for lack of science. There is not one thing of any critical importance to the concept of existence that can't be explained with science or has a reasonable scientific theory for it.
Any other beliefs are hogwash and an impediment to not only your well being and future but to the future of your nation, my nation, and the world as a whole. |

Yes. It does. Government should serve blindly regardless of the faith of its citizens. Otherwise we will regress to the stone-age societies of the middle east like you see in the Islamic world. |

One could argue that you can prove Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are made up, since parents have KNOWN itīs been a complete hogwash story in both cases from the beginning of their invention. The concept of God, however, began from an honest belief in itīs existence. That said, Iīll take your point as you meant for it to be taken.
Yet, the slight (and admittedly, incredibly slight) chance that a God exists is still there. While I can agree with taking offense to someone telling you what you should or shouldnīt do based on their belief of what God commands, I donīt think that the mere belief in the possible existence of a God should be offensive to anyone. Likewise, for the state to ask for itīs protection should not be offensive to anyone either. |
