Best credit card:

MBNA Travel Rewards elite..

NO ANNUAL FEE

1:1 points. And the redemption rate is similar to airlines but on any airline.

It was a bit better when this card was MBNA Starwood but its still a good card.

And i dont believe in paying any annual fee to collect points. Its redundant and the card company makes 2.5 percent everytime u use it anyways.

No we never came across it. What's it like. In Havana we went to this little restaurant and had baked chicken that tasted like my grandmothers, and black beans & rice. Ian had pork I think.

tastes like chicken... really! LOL... well a bit lighter but so good when they made it with garlic

resort food sucks in cuba because fidel wants to spend as little as possible so that he can rake in the hard currency.

FINE!! :whip: lol j/k I really want to go to Mexico as well to see the ruins, but was definitely not interested in doing that over spring break.

I still think you should consider Cuba though. And if you do, go to Havana. So much culture and beauty there, and the people are so friendly. Don't let us scare you with the food comments haha. Our resorts food wasn't the best, but there were definitely things that we liked and lots to choose from. I tried rabbit and boar for the first time. And like I said, if you eat off the resort (we did a few times), there's a lot of good food. In fact, you can find the best Cuban meals if you go to a local's house and have them cook you dinner. IMO, it's definitely a place you should visit before the embargo is lifted.

I'm sure wherever you go you'll have a great time though! Especially if you've never been before.

A friend of mine told me as long as you go to a 5 star Cuban resort the food will be pretty good just dont do anything less.

Im planning to go to Ocho Rios,so many people scare me of the drug wars going on in mexico.Cuba is cheap but if anyone is thinking of going there make sure you look for resort that gives to more "À la cartes" lets see what happens Ocho Rios or Bahamas :o

I agree, I don't pay annual fees for banks keeping my money. My family has been a TD customer for so long that we've worked out waivers with them. I still prefer money back to points b/c I don't know if I'll ever use the points.

Not necessarily. My dad was at a 5 star and the food was mediocre. Ian and I were at a 4 star and the food was alright. Some stuff was inedible but there was a handful of things you could eat. They're really limited. If you're looking for a resort, I would definitely recommend a 5 star though and read the reviews to find the place with the best food. lol

The drug wars was another reason I've steered clear of Mexico lately. A bit scary. I would disagree with the a la cartes in Cuba though. Our a la cartes were way worse than the buffet and the beach bar food at our resort. The italian was gross tangy pasta that had been sitting out forever and warmed up for 5 seconds. The soup and bread bar was really good though. And the chinese was so bad that people were walking out. I choked down as much as I could, but it was really really bad. The "spring rolls" were some sort of batter shaped and fish with dough in the middle and this purple stuff. No veggies at all.

Lol at Jayx proposing to get out of resorts for "adventures", people go south to chill and get some rest.

Not hunt for a filthy casa particular and expect not to suffer from diarrhea, a diarrhea that would actually take more than the average guy 7 days vacations to clear.

I suppose the thread starter falls in the first category, thus your whole intervention becoming moot.

P.S. I noticed alot of people from the eastern bloc are die hard Cuba vacationers and fans... maybe it's because it reminds them of their (rubbish) home country.:stongue:

I would disagree. A lot of ppl do prefer resorts, but personally I prefer a mix of both. I want some relaxation on the beach, but I also want to go out and do things when I'm on vacation and see what the country has to offer.

It seems like the thread starter is more of a resort person though.

i suspect this as well..

personally i get bored after a couple of days and always up for some adventure exploring the country.

Ideally a good resort has the best of both worlds to satisfy all sorts of objectives.

with that said:

Costa Rica!

btw. anyone been to Hedonism 3?

Yup, Im only going to stay on the resort. I dont plan on going into the city. Like I said before I just dont want to end up at a resort with just married couples and old people.
