wow really?! You're lucky. I've seen that...and also people picking their nose on the platform as they wait for the subway. I love to stare at them while they do it....which has yet to make them stop though!

I hate ppl that stand in front of the doors and don't let ppl off of the subway, before trying to get on. I hate ppl that stand and block the exit doors on the streetcar. I hate when people don't move to the back of the streetcar to make room for boarding passengers at the front. I also hate when ppl don't stand to the right of the escalator. Come on ppl, there's RULES!!! LEARN THEM! I hate when ppl hit me with their backpacks!!!

I REALLY HATE WHEN THE SUBWAY IS RAMMED, AND SOME RUDE BITCH READS THE PAPER WHILE IT'S CENTIMETERS FROM MY FACE. I don't want a paper cut on my face you stupid whore, so move it away from me. Sorry, that one really pissed me off.

/end TTC rant.

getting hit by a packpack on a face/head is classic - people don't realize that when they're standing, other passangers' faces are on the same level as their bag!
what else? people not letting others leave the train happens all the time, esp. on busy stations like Bloor - I'm so tempted to push someone out with my arm and telling them "I don't get out - you don't get in!"

Yes! Get out of the way, Srsly. Faster people get off, the faster you'll board.

toronto actually has a lot of etiquette in public... there will always be annoying behaviour from certain people. But honestly, on a world wide scale of civility id say toronto ranks about an 8 on that scale. Id say mostly because people want to have as little contact with strangers as possible LOL!!

Argentina was by far the worst offender. People would stampede (literally) when the train reached the end of the line pushing people over to try and get a seat! I even saw one guy dive through the open window!!

Italy and greece were tied for 2nd worst (they dont know what cuing means). Probably the most civil are Holland, Germany and places in Canada and the US to be honest.

China would place somewhere in the middle. Not the rudest but certainly not the best. Surprising since there are so many people there!

Even though the TTC can be annoying at times, I would still choose it over having a car in this city any day. It's convenient, and affordable. Having a car in downtown T.O. is not IMO, with the cost of parking/insurance. I couldn't deal with the traffic, and parking is almost non existent. Even when you have a permit, you still have to drive around to find a spot! Not worth the hassle. The only time I wish I had a car, is when I want to drive OUT of the city. I hate taking VIA. Such a rip off.

yea i read that.. and still wonder whether we would have done it ourselves

anyway, if you guys wanna experience bad etiquette, just try any one of the proletariat routes that operate out in the burbs..

Europe in general has no notion of "lining up" for anything
lines in airports are a freaking disaster

In the 15 years I have been taking transit twice a day, I have never seen that either.

I once saw a guy sniffing paint thinner, but no nail clipping.
