| More like progressive house, but a LOT closer to trance than png. I guess progressive trance would work as well. |

Ambient breaks isn't a genre. That's just something Ishkur invented, and he's already said that ambient breaks and ambient techno are really just ambient house. Ambient house was an assortment of ambient records based on then-popular styles of dance music, and played in chill-out rooms at clubs and raves, predominantly in England.
Papua New Guinea was a chilled-out interpretation of breakbeat hardcore. It has almost nothing to do with trance beyond the fact a huge number of trance and progressive breaks producers copied it. It is, however, a massive classic because everyone in every scene knows about it, and most agree it's ing beautiful.
Also: your first two "waves" of trance classics are very good. |

In terms of sound the both projects were equally as commercial. Both made it into the charts. Out of the blue scored higher however. |

Unfortunately, I'm a thirdwavist, but I agree with you that those are good stuff.
As for PNG not being "trance", I PERSONALLY count it as "trance" because its sweeping atmosphere. I count "trance" as mix between dance and ambient. Happy? Although, I get your point. |

Not sure it always fits that bill, Ferry Corsten is far from ambient. I used to call that stuff Hard House before they invented Hard House which is different again, possibly 20bpm diffferent though I could try looking it up in wikipedia to see what they think. |
