Okay, to clarify, what I mean is:
(Mood, atmosphere, use of melodic progression)
plus:
(Drive, groove, power)
equals (roughly):
Rodri Santos
now i see, well in some cases can be true but uplifting trance it's mostly 138-140 bpm with a powerfull kick and a rolling bassline, add some atmosphere and a melody and that's it.
Kick + bassline is what makes this kind of tracks boring or euphoric but like in every EDM genre , if you grab a track in a mixer and speed it up adding some extra dbs to the bass it will sound horrible but surely more groovy.
So i think (Drive, groove, power) it's a characteristic of both styles but separately, they are similar at some point because of the speed and specific equalization (sidechain compression in uplifting's case)
Meat187
Everything that makes me scream " yeah!" on the dancefloor.

I think that's what it settled on, probably just so you know where to find it. Techno isn't always that brutal either but it does make me question some of what I always consisered to be the beginnings of trance.

Trance is just synthesizer music with a disco beat. Far too many sub genres for sure.

My collection is diverse, my taste slightly less so, Ravebusters 1990 though I think it's before then where I have a few missing pieces in the puzzle, maybe in more ways than one :eyespop:
