Agreed. However I'm fond of his old Rank 1 & The Quest productions and ofcourse his Kamaya Painters productions with Tiesto.
The stuff he's done recently with Armin is off in another world compared to what hes capable of doing/has done.

I'm especially cynical because in interviews Richard Dekkard said that Sasha knew nothing when he joined up with him, and when Dekkard left after 1995 Sasha knew enough to make his album. Sasha also claimed around 1997 that he now knew his way around the studio. So he makes one single (Arkham Asylum/Ohmna) that has a new sound and which is the one Sasha record I'm willing to admit is his own production (also one of very, very few Sasha tracks where production is actually credited to "A. Coe" and not the ambiguous "Sasha"). But there was no album for another five years and then Sasha starts working with progressively more and more co-producers when it does come out. I also read an interview around the time of Involver where Sasha was saying the same things as in 1997 - previously he hadn't known how to do anything and now he did because May had taught him. For me it's pretty clear that he just doesn't have enough time to stay on top of the production game.
I can't be bothered to argue this point around because what's apparent is you're going to keep assuming the best about Sasha no matter what, which is why I'm saying you're being fanboyish. With no idea how much Sasha does you instantly assume he does the "core work" and he must have lots of studio knowledge. I think it's much more likely that a full-time DJ who has always relied on co-producers would not be able to function without them, and as such I wouldn't say it's valid to nominate Sasha in this thread.
of course i'm going to assume that the most likely scenario in my mind is true. its not like this dj who has been touring non stop for the last 2 decades hasn't had moments to hone his production techniques when he's had the time to work on a plethora of mix CDs and an entire album... or are we going to assume that he didn't do those either? How have other big names (with arguably busier schedules) been able to do it?
as far as the the Dekkard interview goes, post-94 Sasha is pretty much the artist I was thinking of when I listed him as my favorite producer. His stuff before that is nothing to write home about and the fact that he wasn't great at making music early on in his career is evident in those productions. everyone has to start somewhere.
you're a pretty intelligent guy so I don't understand how you can't grasp the fact that neither one of us can truly back up our claims and that your argument isn't gospel. you're right... I'll choose to believe that Alexander Coe is involved in most of his productions as Sasha until i'm given substantial evidence which proves otherwise. Just like you'll choose to believe that he isn't as involved based on the fact that he uses a large number of co-producers. neither one of us can say we know for certain.

Are you joking? That's the worst argument you could have made. His album was famously delayed for a whole decade because he didn't have any time to make it. And when he did make it he employed a battalion of helpers . Half the tracks are written be three people. Bloodlock was solely written by James Holden. Airdrawndagger is compelling evidence for my case.
Most of his mix CDs were done in ProTools.

At the moment, I really like Russian producer "Mango". Honourable mention goes to Canadian Paul Keeley.
Of alltime, DJ Shah, Paul Van Dyk would be my "big 2". Tiesto is utter trash now, but in like 2000, with his songs "Mirror", and his work with Kamaya Painters, Tiesto also deserves a mention...

I realize most of the big names use assistant producers to help them but that doesn't discredit the DJs themselves from being involved in the process. that's my point.
