my point is that multiple sources are saying different numbers. if it all comes from the same set of data why report it falsely as 1/5 if it's 18% ? i'm sure it's not all coming from the same data source; but still annoying to see different numbers that are supposed to represent facts. i know there's a margin of error, but 18 vs 24%....really? |

Because one fifth, or 20%, is not an inaccurate approximation for 18% :conf: |

Because "one in five" is a concept people can easily visualise by, say, thinking of how many people they know. Granted it's very easy to convert 18% to about a fifth yourself, but it's more effective in writing to make it explicit. |
