Yeah, although 250k is a lot of money for simply mixing CDs, if there is a big enough demand to see him, you can bet your ass he's going to ask for that much.

they should refund me more than $500 i wasted on their events. every insomniac event i went was utter garbage.

HAHAHAHA, WHAT A DOUCHE!!!
I always try not to get on people about stuff on boards cuz people are to bold online, cyber confidence sucks.
But this one is just too funny!

Lets say an event like this sells water for three dollars each, they buy the water for what, .25 cents each? Then pay staff to sell it etc.
So they net $2 a bottle.
if every person buys ONLY one water, someone is making over $30k JUST ON WATER

How much do top basketball players get paid for "designing" and/or putting their name on a shoe? Lesser basketball players perhaps could have designed a better shoe, but it is all about name recognition. As other people have said in this thread and every other Tiesto-bashing thread, it's all about supply and demand. Never forget that money is a man-made construct. No action is 'worth' anything in absolute terms, it is only worth what we are willing to pay for it.

If this event did not get canceled, I probably would have attended it if early-bird tickets were not too expensive (~$40 is about right for me). But I wouldn't go to the event just to see The Magnificent Tiesto beat match songs for a few hours, I would go for the high-production values and the crazy atmosphere. Plus, it probably would have been a costume party and I have a great costume this year. :(

An attack on the EDM scene happens every 5 years or so due to the death of a minor or a string of publicized ods. Nothing new. The scene always prevails and contiues to grow. Working in the scene for 6 years including with Giant which meant colaborating with Insomniac, the part that shocked me in the article was the mention of $ amounts. The amount obviously doesn't suprise me. I know what Giant paid Tiesto for NYE a few years ago, but I also know that promoters and managers do not like those amounts to be common knowledge. When you know what djs are making you can start to breakdown the profit line. Not something promoters want you know. No business wants you to know what they pay for the product.

i dont like going to massives, but I support Insomniac in this effort.

The fact the authorities cancelled a performance based on the character of the said performance speaks of being a potential 1st amendment violation.

If they start violating the rights of Insomniac, it just propagates the idea that raves, ergo electronic music is bad/evil and it just becomes worse and worse for everyone in the EDM scene. Next thing you know, even clubs will ban it coz of all supposed drugs and deaths it brings, etc.

Then rock concerts will be banned coz of "sex, drugs and alcohol", and so on and so forth. Then all we could be left with is country music and taylor swift.

Government singling out events based on the music thats played is a bad idea.

if they are so honest, they should refund me more than $500 i wasted on their events. every insomniac event i went was utter garbage.

Your an idiot. Everytime I go to an event I didn't like I call my credit company and start a charge-back for services not rendered... You should have done the same at your FIRST Insomniac event... and after never went to another. I have never done this to insomniac because they throw GREAT PARTIES =)
