there is no appreciation, go read the main music discussion room and all you see is hating towards the trance genre.

that's like going to a bmw forum and just bashing on the company. in forum terminology, that's called TROLLING.

There is an appreciation for other genres of music but it often seems that only the house heads continually criticize trance, often in trance topic threads or for no other reason than trying to be "funny" like the video. For instance, people don't like Tiesto (although he claims he's over trance now) and whenever one of his events pops up it's only a matter of time before the anti-Tiesto/trance threads start popping up. I don't think I've seen many posts where trance fans bash other genres but I could be wrong. I personally like many types of EDM but if a song or DJ doesn't impress me, I just change the channel and don't go out of my way to post about it. We're never going to have the same opinion on an artist/song (except maybe for Thompson and Holden - Nothing (93 Returning Mix;) so I don't see the point on the negativity IMO.

its the same thing with the techno heads. Sub genres/groups are always gonna rag on something the majority appreciate.

The reason I thought the video was funny is b/c its funny and spot on with what I felt on the decline of trance music. I used to love trance... and still do in someways... when its done properly though.

What is proper? Well... the occasional really good pill and fat blunt to the dome:)

edit*

This thread is a WIN!! We needed something like this. Tired of reading all the ing spam that shows up.

Techno > House > Trance :p

But really, I didn't think there was a competition for what kind of music I like (and I like a lot more than trance)

You expected anything less, from me?

Also IMO, House ≈ Techno > Trance

But you have some pretty cool friends.

ah man, so that's what trolling means! I was afraid to ask for some time now.

The same thing happens on the Honda-tech.com car forum, with the Chevy guys taking the time to register, then to post how imports suck and blah blah blah. I always took it as a compliment.

Trolling happens in the c0r and used to happen here on this forum at times by alts and chola.

This isn't a troll, it's fact.

I have been on HT since 03, that only happens in GDD. Just like here in the c0r.

cool, yeah i've been on that forum since about that time, since 01. I used to hate on Honda's but only because I didn't have one, more a nissan fan, but that was before drifting got popular in the states, and I drove a 97 altima (don't laugh). not sure what cor or chola is.

It's a shame that trance has become such a joke, thanks to the unicorn DJs. Thankfully we've still got some DJs that don't make us cringe, Christopher Lawrence has always been my #1 and I've been getting into John OO Fleming since they recorded the Global Grooves cd together. There's nothing like getting on a dance floor and losing your mind in a solid groove that twists and turns. I also get that feeling with John Digweed and a few of the other progressive DJs that haven't gone soft. Even some electro house stuff can really get a groove going.

Good DJs with some balls that still know how to bang it out and actually take the crowd on a journey (an expression I used to hate, but now appreciate more in the face of dumbing down of trance).

chlola I think?

This thread was destined to devolve into the same house vs. trance or old trance vs. new trance convo that rears its stupid, ugly head every so often.

Trance! House! Pizza! Tacos! Chimps! Bonobos! Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meoowwwwww

Bottom line... the first half of the video only made the producer of the video look foolish. He/she should have focused on trance videos, album covers, and poses only.

And GDJB still is awesome! :toocool:
