Bahahahaha you really think that you will be any more in power in two election cycles? :stongue:

This will be the death knell of the republican party.

If it isn't then its the death knell of the american citizen. I hope you enjoy running a company with no employees Kevin. Those profits will just magically appear... I mean thats how they get them on Wall Street right? It MUST be the same for you!

ing idiot.

The Republican modus operandi for several decades has been to promise small government and limited spending and, once elected, deliver instead sprawling bureaucracy, massive debt, and aggressive regulation of the private sphere based on religion. I see no reason to expect this newest cohort of Republicans to adhere to their small government campaign rhetoric any more faithfully than their predecessors, so it is unlikely that they would bring about any reduction in government spending even if it were within their power to do so. It is thus with more than a little bemusement that I observe voters who claim that they would prefer decreased government spending nonetheless support Republican candidates. If that is indeed their preference, then they waste their time by voting as they will find no representation in either party.

Fortunately, however, the Republicans did not gain enough influence to hope to achieve their affirmative agenda--and the inevitable spending increases that it would entail--at least for the time being. The primary effect of their gains will be that they can better obstruct the agenda of the Democrats (admittedly, a fairly superfluous capability considering how consistently and expertly the Democrats obstruct themselves). Thus, the new balance of power will tend to lead to a gridlocked situation where neither party is able to implement its agenda. That is quite a serendipidous development for the simple reason that it would be preferable that neither party's agenda be implmented. This result, though reached only through the unfortunate--if predictable--naïveté of the electorate, is one to be celebrated.

Also Kevin, remember you are only in control of 1/6th of the government. ;)

Interesting discussion about money spending and politics... I wish I knew how much politicians spent in Brazil this year.

If republicans are so against socialism why is their color RED?

I bet you hope all company owners suffer... and create no products, services, or have employees to pay. It will make you feel better when said people "get their comeuppance", even if it meant entering an economic black hole. Because that's how envious hateful losers think.

Oh, and Kevin, you forgot that the Senate still belongs to the Democrats :p

More Republicans were up for Senate re-election than Democrats yesterday, and they still picked up 6 seats brosef. 2 years from now, Democrats will have 21 Senate seats to defend... more than the GOP. ;)
