No, what's funny is the non-partisan bull that's spreading all over the world thanks to that hole of a ing nation.
Last time I checked, it was Clinton and the Dems who started the failure cascade, and then Bush and the Reps drove the country and world even more into the ground.

America needs to stop being so damn divided. They went through it in the civil war, and it's about time they grew up already. Blocking bills just to piss off the other side gets a country nowhere, yet the monkeys voting these people in are happy for them to continue doing it.

Normally I wouldn't give a but that American style of politics is spreading like cancer around the Western world. In Australia as an example we have the traditional right winged party that's so far right they've fallen off the map, and the traditional left winged party who's right behind them on the right side. This isn't good for anyone.

I love when ill advised foreigners try to interject themselves into American politics. Your above statement is silly at best. First of all, every major piece of legislation the Democrats wanted was PASSED (and done so in opposition to what the public wanted- a main reason why Democrats got whacked last night); what, Democrats couldn't get what they wanted with a 77 seat majority in the House, an 18-20 seat majority in the Senate, and a Democrat President? LOL! Nice try but that talking point doesn't hold any water. There was bipartisanship at times but it was in opposition. Clinton was out there telling House Democrats they'd be rewarded for voting against the wishes of their constituents on Health Care... OOPS!

Correction...every major piece of legislation was passed in name only. Health Reform? If you count as health reform the plan republicans were proposing 20 years ago then es health reform passed, but the independent polls (yes independent, dont look at fox pols) showed that the public doesnt like the healt care bill not because it went too far but because it didnt go too far enough. The public wanted the public option, and greater restrictions on the bloodsucking insurance companies. And they might have gotten it as well if it want for those pesky republicans and their unanimous vote of NO! on every single thing until the damn bill was watered down so much it had no resemblance to the original idea. Major piece of legislation? Bah, a punch in the face of every true liberal out there. THats why the liberals are pissed, they didnt see Obama and the democrats really fight for them.

What was rejected last night if not liberalism? A wave of people were elected that were the antithesis of the liberal agenda. And you say this happened because liberalism wasn't pushed harder!? Do the math man- the most recent ideological identification of how people see themselves in this country is 20% liberal, 35% independent, 42% conservative. As I referenced in a previous thread, force a liberal agenda onto a populace that's demonstrably non-liberal and you get a backlash... plain and simple.

Kevin, please...seriously. Do I, a European socialists really need to school you on your own damn history and politics. After a presidential election the party in power almost always looses and looses hard. Helped in this elections by the reublicans basically blocking the whole of legislative process by not letting anything pass. Remember the good old times when all you needed to pass something in the senate was a simple majority? 51 votes? Explain to me please why for the past two years the bar was suddenly raised to 60 votes? Why did every piece of legislation that people actually cared about need 60 votes to pass? The people werent pissed at liberalism, they were pissed at the people in power and this time it was the democrats.

Also, i love those percentages of yours :stongue: Faux news i take it? or one of the other right wing sources that supply fox with polls that sometimes add up to 120% :haha:

And let me say this as well...for all the talk about how awesome this is for the republicans, how they are back baby and that they are going to kick ass...they are now doing some serious backpeddling. Baner wants YOU to know that hes in pwoer now and hes oing to kick ass and change washington! But just in case he doesnt, let us not forget there is still a democratic president and senate. Im eagerly anticipating how the party of NO! will take on governing, especially since they went so far to the right that a moderate republican looks to the wackos on the far right about as bad as any liberal.

As usually republicans ed up immensly. First they did it by going for the evengelical vote and oh didnt that end up so well. Nothing better for the future of a country then a thorough rejection of science. Now you put forward people who would have no one pay taxes and cut every government program except the armed forces. If this hrend continues i look forward to seeing america in next 20 years. It shoud be full of stupid(er) people (since the people you work for now want to abolish the department of education), sicker people (no healthcare unless youre rich enough to afford it, no EPA to ptotect you from people that dont mind putting poison in your water supply) and ah hell, i cant be even bothered to go on. Safe to say, 20 years time, either EU, China or Russia (or all three if we get together)...we have a new colony on out hands.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Obama did have 60 votes for the entire first year, until Scott Brown got elected in January 2010... and it was his promise that Gitmo would have been closed in year 1. Cap and Trade did pass in the House. Thankfully, it died in the Senate as it should have, as resulting tax and energy increases would have been even bigger Democrat suicide for last night. The mess about appointees is something else- he used recess appointments to place controversial people to avoid the public scrutiny that comes with a confirmation hearing.... i.e. Donald Berwick.

60? I count 58 Democrats.

That number spin was spintastic. It's actually getting worse as we find out more of what it's doing... it's shutting down insurance companies and forcing businesses to drop coverage much quicker than planned, as mandates are forcing premium increases (he said we may see premiums decrease by up to 3500%... lol) and pricing competitors right out of the market. This is by design, and goes along exactly what Obama talked about during his Senate days with "putting the proper steps in place to lead to a single payer in 10 years" or so.

November 1: 58% favor repeal, 45% strongly favor it:

Rasmussen was off by nearly 5 points on 85% of all races on Tuesday - at what point do you finally recognize that their numbers are inherently biased and wrong?

As for forcing small businesses to drop coverage, I'd be careful stating that as fact. Wall Street Journal (a publication you can't accuse of liberal spin with a straight face):

quote:

The number of small businesses offering health insurance to workers is projected to increase sharply this year, recent data show, a shift that researchers attribute to a tax credit in the health law. Many small businesses, however, remain opposed to the law.

Some small businesses are benefiting from portions of the law, which includes a tax credit beginning this year that covers as much as 35% of a company's insurance premiums.

According to a report by Bernstein Research in New York, the percentage of employers with between three and nine workers and which are offering insurance has increased to 59% this year, up from 46% last year. The report relies on data from a September survey by the nonprofit Kaiser Family Foundation.

A full tax credit is available to employers with 10 or fewer full-time workers and average annual wages of less than $25,000. The credit phases out gradually and has a cap at employers with 25 workers and average annual wages of $50,000. The White House estimates that 4 million employers will qualify for the credit.

That was Tuesday.

There are better ways... better formulas for reform of health care than the massive boondoggle that was rammed through. I think we all deserve something better than what's been forced on us.

On that I can agree. A single payer public option would have been a good start. Also malpractice reform, which I think we agree on.

Fortunately, however, the Republicans did not gain enough influence to hope to achieve their affirmative agenda--and the inevitable spending increases that it would entail--at least for the time being. The primary effect of their gains will be that they can better obstruct the agenda of the Democrats (admittedly, a fairly superfluous capability considering how consistently and expertly the Democrats obstruct themselves).

Haha, this is so true.

Surprisingly all the tech ( Microsoft, Google, Apple, Intel, Facebook. etc etc ... ) companies side with democrats. Why is that if they are so hit up by what you say ?
