"as a result"? are you telling me you think there's a causal relationship between her being generous to her friends and finding random gadgets? :stongue: |

A close friend of mine found an iPad with similar specs several months ago in the bottom of a shopping cart @ Whole Foods around lower Manhattan/TriBeCa area. After browsing through the pictures, she decided that the owner could clearly afford a new iPad, and that was the end of that.
The same friend, sometime last year found a (new at the time) iPhone 3G while waiting at the Staten Island Ferry terminal. It was still logged onto the owner's facebook account, so she posted as him on his wall, "This is your iPhone. I'm just messaging to let you know that you will never see me again."
To which the owner actually messaged back,"Whatever, it's cool. I have insurance, and they're going to send me an iPhone 3GS now, just please don't make any calls or texts on the phone, thanks."
And that was that... free iPhone, free iPad, no sweat. wtf :wtf:
Only thing I will say, is that she's a really generous person to everyone she knows; constantly buying, constantly treating people when she doesn't have to, and as a result she almost constantly seems to find money or gadgets like the one's above. She just takes it as a sign that she was meant to have whatever it is that she happens to find.
Next time you know beetter. ANYONE who can afford to lose an iPad, can afford to buy another one. |
As much as your friend wants to justify it, she can't. Someone wealth doesn't mean it's ok to essentially steal from them. |

there are no logical justifications for altruism? |

| In some cases there are, but if it's to return property worth less than the value of the time spent returning it, then the circumstances would have to be pretty unusual. |

For John Safran's sake, Arbiter is Eurasian!
Just before I bump that thread, let's review the facts: Her mother migrated from China to Vancouver, and she went to Ontario/New York (location is still undefined) where she met Arbiter's father, a Nietzsche scholar.
It all makes sense, and this is the reason why she's never posted a single picture! She's probably too hot to be rendered in pixels! |
