apple computer suggestions? (pg. 2)

This thread is relevant to my interests. After my last discussion, I actually went out over black friday and picked up 8 core mac pro. Good thing I didn't open it, as its going back.

I just need to figure out what to get instead. I have RME pcie card for desktop, but after reading how ableton is not 64 bit and can't take effective advantage of multiple cores, not to mention how logic behaves with multicores as well, I realized that its a waste to buy it at that price.

I'm thinking of either getting a quad core mac pro (new) or 17" mac book pro. Btw some folks on gearsluts were bragging how the got a last gen mp for 1800 when new ones came out, it was unpublished close out.

My primary desire is to stick with rme, unless there are compelling reasons to switch to apogee. I also don't want an all in one like imac.

So, should I get quad mp or 17" i7 mbp and either buy rme adapter for mbp or sell rme, buy apogee? Thoughts?

i just got new imac 27" i5 yesterday and im loving it so far. :eyespop:

the cheapest iMac is more than enough for music. macbook pro is also pretty good if youre on the run.

You've been advised by 3 people that this would be a rather bad purchase.

ableton can take advantage of multiple cores, i have a quad core and it uses all of them, it's just not 64bit so no RAM over 4gigs at the moment. i'm SURE 64bit is on the way, there are many threads on ableton's forum regarding it and developers have taken note

I don't understand why does any Mac discussion has to bring out ing morons and trolls that just need to start up instead of participating in a discussion or at least adding something meaningful to it?

Contribute or off, seriously. Find a hobby, bro.

I do think he was highlighting the advice already given. I also know that he is doing his masters in some field of Engineering so I don't really think he cuts being a moron. Of course everyone in Sweden has a masters degree as to not have one would mean to work an extra two years which given the Swedes love for junk and aversion to work a nightmare. The usual progression is to get your masters, obtain welfare and scam people on ebay. I wouldn't say they are all like this but almost all.

im not from sweden though :o

my contribution was +1 btw, one must read between the lines.

sorry, it has been so long since I made fun of your socialist country, I meant Norway.

Kenny Rogers
i dont understand why everyone mix norway and sweden. theyre twice as many as us, yet we have twice as much money as them.
