Honestly, the sooner people start just enjoying what they want to, regardless of genre and stop beying to the masses of media or people saying something is for better listeners, the better for mankind. |
THIS.
I'm getting kind of sick of people telling me I'm stupid for liking some dubstep. Like I'm not allowed to or something. |

Dubstep & Trance aren't that different in a certain way. For every good producer in each, there are 10 who are devoid of ideas, lack the creativity to produce something good and don't realise how their stuff is because they're blindly worshipped by a bunch of idiots. |

exactly... I'll never understand that mentality. it sounds ridiculous to me when people say they've "moved on" from trance to house when there are good releases being put out in both genres. be a fan of music period. |

Indeed, some dubstep tracks i like, most of the are just bland, same with trance, house, techno, psy-trance and all other genres and styles.
That you like dubstep is your prerogative, that i like epic trance, prog-trance and full-on psytrance is mine.
Let the haters hate, while i sail for new treasure islands in the sea of , yarr!
I tried my best with house and other electronica, also with rock, metal and other genres, and i just keep coming back to the energetic and/or steady melodic harmonious swirling with a 4/4 beat and all kinds of (semi-)rhythmic sounds and stuff around it.
It just keeps captivating, even though i desire new experiences every so often and am not impressed with botched emulations.
Good tracks are good tracks, even if they're not in my fave styles.
But then everyone's definition/impression of a good track can differ slightly or wildly.
Meh, screw the popularity contest, i like what i like and if i'm deemed a simpleton zombie for that, so be it, i listen to what i listen because I like it, not because some self-appointed board of elitist wads likes it and presents it as dogma or some dopehead of a DJ sells it as the hottest .
While i do occasionally listen to suggestions and tips, i decide what i like and what not.
And if you disagree with my taste?
Fine, but go listen to whatever you like instead of criticizing me for my taste. |

it wasn't a conscious evolution though. I happened to lose interest in trance like a chewing gum that lost its flavor. house and its subgenres are simply better.

I wouldn't exactly compare trance or house to chewing gum. Really, trance is more like SweetTarts and house more like those DumDum Tootsie Roll lollypops; that when you bite into them you get that center which tastes like a high-density, candied dog turd. |

| house isn't better than trance, right now Trance is more festival oriented or home listening while house is the king of clubs , and depends of your current tastes, i am more into house than into new trance but till 2005 i think my favourite EDM genre is trance and i keep listening to it, some new tunes from trance but if i look at my youtube favourites i soon realise that most of what i've bookmarked recently is house. |

My idea is that songs like zombie nation and sandstorm (My generation) get you into trance, graduate from trance into techno, then into tech house and eventually dub techno and deep house, then you get your docturate and get your IDMPh.D then when you're out of your mind you just listen to straight up clicking droning noise. :D
I never got into trance, house is just my thing. Only trance I've ever enjoyed was Markus Schulz' tech trance set at BeB. My trance is prog.. Hernan Cattaneo, Behrouz, Henry Saiz and Guy J etc..
I do notice that it seems like Montreal in general prefers house music, and Toronto the trance scene is ing huge. |

fascinating analogy. I think it's common sense that house is Jack and trance is his illegitimate child. |
