With techno happens the same, Paul Kalkbrenner has legions of fans that don't even know they are listening to edm. Everybody loves PK and you can hear them saying "i hate techno" |

trance is more much accessible. and i think any true EDM fan, who is pre-programmed to this type of music will eventually end up getting more and more into house/prog/techno.
the melodies bring you in, make you aware of this 'scene', you get to know the artists and you check out their other tracks and remixes, and you find some of them of wildly different from what you were expecting. this may come as a shock, and you may be put off by this at first... but not for long.
you get drawn into different styles and sub-genres, and you realise that it's the rhythms, percussion and groove that really matter, and you will start to get into the more 'serious' types of dance naturally as you investigate... IF that's your thing... if it's not, then you were probably just buzzing off the cheesy melo's, and you wont progress, and likely aren't an EDM fan.
HOWEVER, my love for (the old type of) trance has not diminished with my love of more diverse types of dance music. and blanket saying house/techno is just better is BS. their are plenty of masterful and INTOXICATING trance tracks out there... and that's what it's all about! |

The answer is easy.
House is for beginners because it has vocals, melody, groove and a slower BPM so it's easier to get into, then Trance due to melody, then Techno. Don't forget Trance comes partially from acid house (a harder type of house).
That being said some house tune are way harder to get into than some ArminVanBuuren track ... but guess what, it's not Trance either !!! |

| So I'm more or less going from experienced to novice while getting older, when neglecting that I still love to old stuff, which gets marked as experienced. Probably even more when you put Happy Hardcore in the list. |

You can replace trance with dubstep now. Too many kids around here thinking they know what the scene is all about just because they discovered Skrillex, Excision or Nero. |

I don't know anyone who knows who Kalkbrenner is. He's huge in Germany, but "everybody"? What do you call his techno btw, "fart techno"? :p |
