This is what they are gearing for. The constitution, from what i understand, is fairly secular. The amendmants should be more freedom of choice for the people. Afterall, it should be the people's government, not the government's people.

The constitution is often the first victim of a coup/revolution

Also, for example, the North Korean constitution says that they are allowed free speech and free movement. Sometimes a constitution isnt worth the paper its written on.

I would say it is, if you are fighting to amend it. We are talking about basic rights here, the right to determine who runs "your" country. In this day and age, the point you are trying to make should be moot since uprising against oppressing dictatorships should be supported no matter what. Deal with the fine print after. Anything is better for the people then what they have now, so long as they have the right for self determination.

Just think about what you are arguing here. Are you for or against the progression of civilization? Are you for or against oppression?

I truly hope that the west stays the hell out of this and let the people of Egypt choose their future. Let’s put an end to the dirty political games in the Middle East. Let these people enjoy their lives like me and you and everyone else in this country.
Why should the entire Middle East have to be revolved around the security of Israel and the U.S. hunger for oil? We have go to respect the people there and give them the chance of choosing their own destiny.

If the outcome is worse than the beginning then obviously im against this revolution. And the people leading it are much worse for Egypt than Mubarek.

Its called choosing the better of two evils.

Do i support Mubarek? No. But hes better than the alternative that is lining up to take his place.

Except that the people choosing it are the ones making backroom deals with the miltary.

That should not come as a surprise to anyone (if it is true). After all everyone know that Mubarak was a big supporter of Israel.

According to BBC the fire is outside of the museum and not inside thankfully. None of this is 100% confirmed though.
