Sucks that they are destroying artifacts at the museum :whip:

Plus now the protesters are going after the US and Israel. Either way US/Israel staying idle or even if they helped bring peace once again to the country, people would be pissed. Plus I hear people disliked the peace treaty between Egypt-Israel for the past 30 years. With that in mind, if things don't stabilize and you have radicals that get in power. There goes the peace treaty out the door and the UN will still give to Israel, if Egypt attacks them. I for see another War of Independence on our hands and it will be far worse than the one in 1948-49.

Its not a good situation. Chances are the next person to assume power will in fact be a radical. Politicians can never be trusted, especially at the federal level.

If the muslim brotherhood takes power, this will be a huge piss off. Doesn't the definition of democracy have a clause which says that there must be a seperation of church and state?

If this does happen, the egyptian people will be calling back for the mobarak to take office.

Such a piss off that there aren't any large secular opposition parties. There should be no price to pay for democracy, but there is a huge price to pay for religion melded with politics. Isn't it about time we all grew out of religion? I mean, do children still beleive in the tooth fairy?

ing religion.

Apparently Mubarak made sure there were no viable opposition parties...

I'm sure initially the intention, after the assassination of anwar sadat, was good for the country and the region to keep out islamic parties from the running (as they were responsible for the previous president's assassination).

Clearly now he is just trying to hold onto power as long as he can, and honestly, if there isn't a leading secular party in the running, i don't think that Egypt is ready for a "true" democracy. Separation of church and state should be an international law when it comes to government. I know that sounds ludicrous, but seeing the irrationality of religion imposed on people, and using it as law seriously makes me think that we haven't progressed from the stone age.
