the raising of the children is a different story. if you can afford to hire someone, then why not? |
That's the problem with this generation...
You raise your children yourself because that is your parental responsibility...
I mean, why waste money and hire somebody? Why not just birth the kid and kick it to the curb?? Somebody will find it and raise it right??
My god what the is wrong with you all???
The piss off is that you're still in my generation... |

Cooking and enjoying a meal should be just that - enjoyable. If you look at food and eating as a chore, you're doing it wrong imo. |
You should try it with a two year old...
Chore isn't the word. Lol |

well, if we want to talk about generations, children were always raised by a group or village of people. that is the way it should be. no one should be expected to only raise their child themselves. children need to learn from all adults around them. i have no problem with having help raising children, that is the way it should be since that is the way it was.
now a days you have children that are raised by a single strung out mother, the child becomes so attached that they are a terror when going out into the real world. you have to socialize your children to all sorts of situations. children that are so attached to one parent are impossible to take to school, are impossible to take for a visit anywhere. these are the children that throw tantrums in the grocery store. |

I work 12 hours a day taking care of other people's family members. When you don't get to see your own loved ones as much, you cherish whatever time you have with them. In that way, I find making dinner with my partner a nice way to bond. ;)
I don't know about you, but I want to keep the passion alive in my relationship after a couple decades - so I don't look at sharing an experience as simple as making dinner as a chore. :p

Agreed. I love cooking with my wife. We're both beginner level cooks so we are learning as we go and we're getting better every time. We love to find a recipe we both want to try and make it together. And then there will be a night or two where one of us decides to cook for the other.
Both men and women should be able to cook, clean, take care of the kids and make a living equally. This isn't the 1950's anymore. If you're a man and you want to meet a good woman there is nothing more impressive to them than being able to cook. |

lol...really? Roast is a breeze as long as you know the cut of beef you have and the time per pound the cut requires. Make a olive oil, salt, rosemary and garlic rub, put it on, put in oven and voila! Instant rare roast goodness! |

I would agree with Skipper that up until probably the early 80s most men would have failed at basic skills like cooking, cleaning, ironing, sewing, etc.
In today's world I think men know more of these basic skills then women do. |

Recipe??? Sounds killer.
Honestly though I'd rather my partner be out earning money.
$$$ > someone doing petty chores all day by themselves while 1 person struggles to make sufficient income, imo. |

Agreed. I'm mid 20s and more guy friends can cook than females. Most female friends are more than happy to buy something rather than make as well. |
