simply said, yes.

children are a worthy investment. i would rather save the 20 bucks and invest it in the children.

but you obviously have misunderstood me. i am not surprised.

getting a nanny doesn't mean that you don't "raise" your kids. you just have help in doing so.

this....people have been too consumed with working hard and playing hard that they forgot to take time out to learn other valuable skills.

Same. My mom has a sewing machine but I doubt she'll let me have it. Nor do I have room for it.

Have you heard of those little handheld sewing machine things, or small fixes? I wonder if they work.

i have seen them on TV but I don't think i would trust them for hemming pants. for that you need a proper machine.

i can definitely sew a button on, Lisa! didn't you have home ec in highschool? lol, in poland we all learned how to sew buttons in grade 1.

No we don't. I'm actually quite mad about it. My brother used to get home ec and the year before I was supposed to start it, they got rid of the program. Jerks. Those basic skills would really help me.

Absolutely. There are a few skills that everybody should know in life. When I was in grade 7-8, they made everybody take wood shop, and home-ec. It was fantastic, I learned how to use a planer, and saw, and on the flip side, how to cook, sew and do laundry.

Basic life knowledge
- sew
- cook
- laundry
- basic plumbing
- basic electrical
- how to use a drill
- calculate compound interest

This is a bit aside but we're talking about nannies...

A friend of ours got a nanny for her daughter...

She came every day and watched the kid, cleaned the house, and prepared dinner...

She even cost the same as daycare so the price was right...

Problem is that the kid has zero social skills and hasn't a clue how to behave around other kids or people...

Nannies are not healthy for a child's development. Yah Seb gets sick a little from daycare but his social skills(and immune system) are great for his age and thats what matters...

That, coupled with proper parenting by the actual parents, is priceless...
