last nights bookings RAMMED the venue. that is a successful night for a business. end of story.

i certainly understand this is a business, and guv will do whatever they can to make as much money as possible and theres nothing wrong with that. however there is no comparison of DJs booked today versus 4-5 years ago at guv. just because a venue is rammed to the , doesnt mean it was a good night musically. all it means is that its catering to the thousands of mainstream "sheep"

case and point....any tiesto show nowadays

The music all around was just okay for me. I went mainly to see Boys Noize. This was like 6th time i've seen him spin and he really wasn't doing it for me. Tiga was actually fun. Tho i am not a fan he defiantly made the room bouncy and enjoyable.

At guv i managed to catch a bit of Chris Lake and Kaskade. It was cheese, sorry.

All in all not worth the ticket price for this kind of party. I've been to many many decadence and this was not up to par with previous events.

+1 to pretty much all of this. funny how the electro room had the friendlier crowd... maybe because there was no trance room. the drink closed early which was really annoying, as was calvin harris playing overtime.

definitely a lot of girls though! managed to have a decent night with a good crew despite not being blown away by anyone's set

Last night was one of the worst parties I have been to at Guv. I am seriously reconsidering going there again. The last few times it has been ridiculously packed. I being a very little person spend more time concentrating on not being pushed around or stepped on than the actual music. I would say that out of the 3 1/2 hrs I was there about 15 minutes of it was enjoyable the rest was spent being angry and wanting to hit people(I am usually a very happy person).

Chris Lake wasn't bad and it was my first time seeing him but it was nothing to write home about. Calvin Harris was in the KH which IMHO is a much better club than guv. I personally think that they should have had Kaskade in KH as you can clearly fit a lot more people. Kaskade was good and played a couple of good songs, he did an awesome remix of Adele. I went to check out Tiga in KH... I dont know what he was playing but it was terrible. I couldn't get into it at all...after 3 songs I went back to guv. I saw Boyz Noise at Ultra and thought that they killed it there but at KH I didnt get the same vibe... I am not sure if the music was as bad as I remember it or the amount of people just left a bad taste in my mouth. I ended up leaving at 4, missing axwell and calling a write off.. Thankfully I am going to Bal En Blanc this weekend to make up for it.

They most certainly can.

Anyways, all you complaining about Guv, there's a simple solution: stop going to Guv.

Not quite. Given their grievance, logic says that the solution for them if for Guv to host DJs that they like.

GGM
Dunno why people even bother bitching bout who the Guv books for all access events these days. That is a huge club, when fully open it must be the largest capacity in North/South America and even up there on a worldwide basis. As great as "better bookings" would be that place would shut down within a year if they tried to "keep it real". Chappelle knows what I'm saying:

So ask yourself if you'd rather they book your type of DJs or fill the place and remain open so you can go there for the several bookings per year that you do happen to like? There's plenty of variety around so if you don't like an event or 2 just don't go, no big deal and no reason to trash a place for doing what any business exists to do (make $).

Sounds exactly like Spin last November. Was chilling in KH for Oakenfold and all was good. Eventually made my way over to check out Sanchez and was ridiculous. It wasn't even overly packed volume wise it was just packed with s so went back to KH for the rest of the night. My guess would be that only s are willing to deal with s in mainroom and all the legit chill people get sick of it and stick to KH where there's more breathing room.

+1, they aint our daughters so who cares about a lil eye candy. Reality is though it's hard to do that as a girl at the guv unless you have a fairly large group because you just become too big of a target for harassment. Too many guys there (and Toronto in general) that have the "I don't care about being denied 49 times cause that 50th girl will say yes" attitude. So if you gotta pick a style as a girl 80s is the smart/safe move imo...

Justin Bieber is good music for MILLIONS, just not for you! Why do we have the right to say something is “bad” because we do not like it?

GUV was rammed from what I hear, from a business stand point this was a VERY SUCCESSFUL night. I have heard nothing but good reviews.

Congrats to the GUV for a great event!

+ 1 to Yee
