people like hawtin are on a completely different level skill-wise and with creativity. |
The new kids on the block have no idea about any of the history of the scene or how it came about nor do they care if the DJ is playing on 4 decks/laptop/vinyl/live PA etc. How technically talented the DJ's are of today make absolutely no difference to them as long as the music/party is good enough for them then the masses will flock to the next big party.

but in all actuality, i dont understand why people in their mid-late 20s wouldnt go out. |
Most people retire from the "club" scene after 25 and vie for a much more intimate alternative to avoid the crowds, young punks and to enjoy a more private setting... hence the VIP bottle service BS. After a certain age you should start to realize that hanging around 19 yr old EDM virgins isn't exactly something that entices the "older" crowds to want to go out. Most of the time they are sloppy and can't handle their drinking/drugs and don't have any etiquette... another reason you hear so many people complaining about how pushy/rude the crowd is... although that was prevalent even in 2005/2006 but probably not nearly as bad as it is now. |

when i first got in to the scene i knew nothing either. i think most people are this way. give them some time and they will learn to appreciate the finer things in the edm scene. cant be too quick to judge them. |

Agreed. Nothing wrong with an influx of fresh meat.
These people who are going on all-access events to see their "mainstream" DJs will follow up and come back on a regular Saturday, see the more scene-friendly "good" acts, and probably get into those too. Then they'll discover the small rooms and the locals. It takes some time to figure it all out. It happened to me (and is still happening - I really don't know about EDM compared to everyone here) |

| Calvin Harris was alright. Boys Noize was pretty good. Axwell was awesome for the very little I saw of him. Guv was a 200 degree sardinefest. Orange Room was bumpin around 5AM, don't remember who was there, though. All things considered it was alright, but nowhere near to the caliber of last year's Deca and other all-access events, imo. |

| I used to be with "It". Then It became was it was, and what it is seems weird and eerie. |

there might be a very limited few who will actually do that....for the most part when the popular thing changes they will change with it and forget about what they once liked. Most kids today are caught up in trying to be accepted and they have lost their individuality. When I first started listening to EDM my friends were either into rock or rap and none of them had any interest in going to EDM parties. To this day they still don't like EDM. |

| Agree with all the previous descriptions of the event. This was only my third EDM party but it was by far the worst. Thought it would be impossible to have a bad time on m but the crowd at Guv showed me it wasn't. |

Yea the club was very busy and that is a successful night for the club. That's nice. I'm sure they also could have had a successful night by not appealing to the lowest common denominator as well. I would argue that if they book Hawtin, Locodice v Carola, Vath or a Vagabundos night etc (commercial names but on the opposite end of the spectrum to guys like Kaskade & Axwell) on one of these long weekend parties the club would still be heaving at the seems. But that is GUV for you ...
Really, it has never been known as a venue you would go to to hear cutting edge music. It's a place that has never been known as and will never be known as a trendsetting musical club. It's a club that follows trends (and is usually a couple of years behind in doing so). Right not it seems like they are biting on Vegas/LA with the lineups they are booking ... |

Present day I might agree but saying never is bull and you know it...
Are you forgetting what it was like in it's heyday??
There where a small handful of clubs in the world doing what we were doing...
And I mean a SMALL handful... |
