I am.
But I bet most of TA isn't lol
Our scene SUCKS! I have been saying this for years!!
I RARELY party here, and when I do is when a friend plays in town. And the bags at LED/Voyeur hate me for ting on them (saying the truth). So I always get the ty end of the stick when I party at any of their events (run around after run around etc). It happened when Zabs was in town (almost), when LBL was in town and this last time when D Ramirez was in town. I didn't even bother going when Bart B More was at Wavehouse even though I was listed by him.
We have a scene that is on par with Orange County, a fake crowd trying to be more Hollywood than Hollywood. Sure the chicks are hotter than most of the nation, but that is only 1 plus in MANY negatives in our scene.
Spin/Hanin old town is nothing but a memory now. That place still throws EDM events but they bring in local acts and the place is usually really dead (if you can breathe, you can headline there). Fluxx here and there brings in decent sized EDM acts here and there, but very few in between as of recently. Top 40 DJ's is what they mainly bring in. On Broadway is the same way, very few EDM acts come in, and when they do it's empty. Thin/Onyx room is on the same boat as OB and Fluxx, on the once or maybe twice a month EDM plan. The only place that brings in constant EDM acts is LED/Voyeur, and you can imagine my feedback on them... |

Eh, the socal scene in general kind of sucks attitude wise. I was just going to say that regardless of the general personalities on the PB strip, you still have to appreciate seeing dance at a beachfront venue. Especially when it's a consistent opportunity. |

Love wavehouse and sd in general. No fat chicks allowed, or maybe they don't exist? Not a fan of led/voyeur so stayed away this year. I've said it before, I'll say it again, perfect CA scene would be the la closure time (avalon), with sf attitude, and sd women/ratios. |

I will be the lone dissenting voice here.
Since when has EDM culture been about looks? (Except for describing the fashion snd visual landscape of various cliques of candy kids, junglists, ravers, poppers, etc.)
Who cares what someone wears to an EDM show? What is this... The Bravo Channel or The Style Network?
The scene is way better today than it has been in the past 5 years. There are more quality shows and there is a wider variety of dance music to choose from.
Watching Djs like Jason Blakemore growing up in the late 1990s let me clue in on the fact that it was ok to swear a Quicksilver or Billabong t-shirt and shorts to a rave and not be so harshly judged for it.
How old is everyone here? Junior high age? I know Billy is, but this is ridiculous. You judge people based on their appearance and age rather than their support and love for our artform we've been working so hard to blow up over the past 15 to 20 years so we don't have to listen to hip hop at every venue? ... And you are still complaining???
SHM. Geez. |
